It needs more damage for many reasons because it needs to be able to do more damage to air defenses with 1000+ health and not get destroyed before doing any real damage. Also they need to be able to do destructive damage to other buildings such as the clan castle in pup or hound form. Another is that the lava hound cant get to the air defense quickly considering the air defense is in the center of the base so it need to do severe damage in one hit (like the pekka).
