If this is true, inform SC you will be filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau, and file one. Usually companies resolve issues immediately when this happens. If that doesnt work within a couple of business days call Apple and ask for a refund. As a last resort you can go to your bank and refute the charge. You don't have to pay for a service or product that isn't rendered and this issue wouldn't be something you caused. If you do refute the charge however, Apple will likely freeze your account indefinitely. This is assuming your an American. Idk other countries laws at all. Good luck.
If you were "offline" how did SC see you had spent the gems though is a issue you may need explained.
Edit: The bank will want to know how and when you contacted supercell and apple. Take your call logs & emails with you.

Just call Apple they will take care of you never had the problem with the gems, but make sure you have a good connection next time you do it!

Here is what happened to me.

I spent 100 dollars on gems and recieved my 14000 gems. I started to purchase speed ups, upgrade buildings, commond center, build walls and purchase resources. Worked on my base for about an hour and spent around 10K of my gems. When I reopened the app a few hours later my base had reverted back to what it looked like before. All my upgrades were gone, buildings were gone everything was like what it was before and only 4k gems left. It reverted my game back and kept all the gems I used on things. I sent this to them and there techs say that I had lost connectivity and that is why it did this. Everything I did when offline was not captured. The only thing is that all gems used were not returned. The said there is nothing they can do about it. BULL. Their glitch they say and I'm the one who gets screwed. Caution Everyone. If your online and loose connection and spend any gems you will loose them.

What I don't understand is..if the connection times out, how did your gems go through? I sometimes put my village in "offline mode" which is technically the same as losing connection and spend gems to see how many I'd have left or to see how an upgraded building would be and i still have my gems when I get back online. Also when your connection is out, after a minute or 2 you'll RECIEVE a message saying there is no connection and will be forced to reload the game...idk...btw I'm NOT calling you a liar by any means.

I believe the op because just the opposite happened to me. I was getting frustrated farming, so bought some gems ($20 if I recall), spent about 400 of them finishing an upgrade, and immediately logged off. The next morning, I had the full gem count back again, and the upgrade was still going. 400 free gems (if you can call dropping $20 "free").

I suspect more had to happen than a simple disconnect. Would be easy to test. Go into airplane mode, boost a barracks, come out of airplane mode and then quit and reload the game. Would be interesting to see if the barracks was boosted and/or the 10 gems were gone. I suspect the game would do the right thing, but who knows?

I suspect theres more behind the story than what op is telling us. I spend too long typing in the clan mail, i get disconnected with a message, i lose my wifi connection, i get the pop up message. I dont understand how he could be offline for an hour without any message. Seems weird tho.....
