Hard Time as TH8

Did you max your third storage? This extremely important, it reduces the max that can be taken per storage from 150k to 100k.

Are your storages separated or a vault? Vaults are usually bad for new th8s.

When I was a th8, I finally realized that losing 200k gold on a defense was not that bad, really. That was one raid. So I never broke a shield unless I had time for two raids. Two raids meant it was profitable to break the shield.

There are nice th8 base designs that can frustrate and annoy attackers.

But ultimately th8s are victims. It gets better.....

Been there and still TH8, but close to max defenses now. Lots of good advice here already but I'll add my two pennies.

Keep TH out, dont be tempted to try and defend it because if a TH9 or 10 wants 3 stars they will take them regardless what you do. The only time they will fail is if they're not very good at attacking. I've tried multiple different bases and settled with my current one as it gives a good chance of only being two starred and keeping some loot. But it isn't 100% safe by any means, especially from revenge attacks where they can pre-plan what they need.

Never log off with more than 500k of any loot, it just tempts the TH9/10. That makes life hard, but you need to do a two hour session get loot for an upgrade and stop. Takes discipline, and planning, but it works, I've been doing it.

Looking back on my time as TH8 I'd say build up your attack before defense. Will help speed up getting loot for upgrades and if you follow my advice above then you wont lose so much. With lvl5 troops you can use barch or bam and get 1-2m gold and elixir in a couple of hours, that's enough to get most upgrades going. I work c3 and the cost to win bonus is great, I dont worry what loot is available the win bonus is enough. Plus you get the odd great loot base given as an even better bonus, and dont waste money nexting.

Takes time to find your feet but you'll do it. Good luck.

A tip from a maxed TH8 waiting two days more to be TH9 with full storages and full extractors. Only things I didn't upgrade were my BK that is level 9, the valkyries and the golems. The trick to be succesful at TH8 is to farm just one resource and dump the other one on walls. In a day I got to 6,000,000 for the pekka by having only 100k gold in storage and getting higher and higher with the elixir. Use the gold storages as shields and the elixir storages close to the middle so when they raid, they only get to the gold ones and are unable to harm the elixir ones. Also, ALWAYS have your TH outside for snipers. If you're in crystal or above putting your TH outside will grant you a shield in less than 20 minutes. I hope you have fun farming through TH8 and remember to always have fun and not take it as a job. If you get bored take a break and come back when you are ready to have fun.

I had a terrible time in silver as th8 new to mid max. As soon as I climbed to gold two I started getting sniped almost all the time by lower town halls that couldn't get into my design. In silver I was slaughtered by th9s and 10s even for not all that much. If I held one million each they would throw everything at me.

The game isn't fair to TH8, TH9, or TH10 anymore.


I have now tried TH8 maxed from Silver 3 to Crystal 2. Gold 2-3 had the best gold/elixer loot for me. In crystal league, I will grant that you can get dark elixer easily as a TH8 - but not gold or elixer.


Simply put, Loot is broken. You need to be more strategic when you play clash, WITH RESPECT TO time zones from here on out.


Either max out your town hall in a cup range lower than you should be in, or retire. It's sad, but the severe inability for players to attain loot has kept some of my TH10 clanmates without progress in their base for MONTHS.
