I suggest silver 1. TH7 bases loaded with loot in collectors and lots of noob th8/th9. Not sure if my suggestion is still valid though as I have not been a th8 in a while. Still I suggest giving it a try.

TH outside base.
I have tried multiple base layouts, all being completely steam rolled by different unit combinations. Mostly the rage spells on 50+ units at once while me out.
I'm currently at 1450 cups. I will try dropping down, that will probably work out best, but I fear that the loot won't be nearly as good.
I have been attaching with barbarians and archers, with the occasional giant/goblin raid thrown in.

Lol lower down loot is still good. I have been moving up and down the leagues. I thought with the league bonus loot might be good above but trust me the loot is good at silver 1- gold 3

Silver 1 is great for early th8. Only issue is lack of DE. DE is decent in Gold 3.

Those pesky th9 invade other th9 regularly, so if the OP is offering 400k, he WILL get destroyed. I don't see any solution other than to boost barracks and raid for 2 hours. This way he only gets attacked twice a day. Of course, this is not an option for everyone.

I guess am in the same position as you in some ways. I migrated to TH8 a week ago, and most of the time TH9's will pick me off easy. There isn't a lot we can do base-wise, from what I have seen.

That said, when I get time to raid, I make sure to stay online and avoid getting raided. Like I mentioned in another thread, I mostly stay in Gold 3/2, and I get decent loot (400k+ combined) on most of my raids. As a result, even though I usually get 2 starred, I still end up making more than a decent profit. Also got 5 builders, so that helps in keeping my storages low. If my storages get too high for my liking, I am starting to dump on walls.

I guess the key really is to avoid losing shield too much. When you do raid, make sure to stay online enough to avoid getting raided back.

Of course, the easier option is to drop trophies and go into Silver, but DE won't be as easy.

I'm having the exact same issue. I made it to TH8 after I maxed my TH7. So essentially just looking to upgrade like yourself. Looks like troops should be my main focus from the start. I hit the research lab and unlocked this capability but same boat. I get thrashed and robbed at least 800k of either resource within a 48 hour period

Will probably drop trophies (Running through Gold 2 right now) See how Silver 1 goes. Not too concerned with DE until the time is needed when I upgrade those specific troops. Figure i'll focus on my regular troops, get them up to speed and then rise up in trophies again and switch to a DE farming base at that point. Good tips on this thread. Glad I found it!

I'm at Silver I right now, and loot is okay-ish. I'm slowly heading up to Gold III to see if loot is any better.

Make a farming base with the town hall in the corner and you are most likely to get a shield from TH snipers rather than get wiped
