Hard Time as TH8

I am new to TH8, and I haven't rushed at all. I have taken my time upgrading all buildings and troops. But every time my shield is off, I am hit hard within 5 minutes by a TH9 that whipes me out, taking over 400k loot. I cant even attack and wait until troops are done for another battle before I'm attacked again. Is there a way to deter this? I am just doing regular savings to upgrade buildings and troops, but I am going backwards from all of the hard hits. It is pretty frustrating and would like to hear some feedback on what I can do. If you are getting wiped ur farming at too high a cup range for ur base - drop a bit

my only tips is not to stock both gold and elixir at the same time. if you are going for troops upgrade, which you should as a new th8, dump your gold to walls.

this way, you will be attacked less. if you are offering both gold and elixir, more people will see you as potential targets.

Yeah TH8s have a hard time with TH9s hitting them all the time. Try using a farming base to encourage pushers to snipe you giving you a free shield.

<edit> To OP: You may be a bit to high in trophies. When you get to a new town hall level, it may be wise to drop some trophies until you get your base a bit more established. Just my ideas

I suggest silver 1. TH7 bases loaded with loot in collectors and lots of noob th8/th9. Not sure if my suggestion is still valid though as I have not been a th8 in a while. Still I suggest giving it a try.

Welcome to TH8. As other have said, make sure your TH is outside and not trapped. Drop trophies. Don't lose heart. You are at the bottom of TH8. Double upgrades of all your defenses. TH8 is a bit of a slog. Also, TH9s find your base more appealing even though you have yet to have time to upgrade your defenses. It will get better as you progress.

TH outside base.
I have tried multiple base layouts, all being completely steam rolled by different unit combinations. Mostly the rage spells on 50+ units at once while me out.
I'm currently at 1450 cups. I will try dropping down, that will probably work out best, but I fear that the loot won't be nearly as good.
I have been attaching with barbarians and archers, with the occasional giant/goblin raid thrown in.

Please tell your cup range, I am at 1600~

Well, the best thing at this range is to keep the town hall OUTSIDE, TH7 will pick it off to give free shield most times.

Earlier I protected my town hall, i was smashed.
