Their goal is to increase the importance of trophies. Removing the only thing in the game that even gives a shred of importance to them would be counterproductive for them.

Thats the logical approach, yet to see SC do this. It takes 21 days for people to adjust to change, after this period of time they can remove the league bonus, and players will continue as normal.
Its easy to assume SC will increase league bonus, but so far there's been no mention by SC that they will in fact do this. I am suggesting they will go the other way and remove the league bonus - time will tell ...

I belive the league thing is better then the level thing. just give it a chance.

If I had a nickel for everytime this was complained about. I'm in a trophy hunting clan, and the badges actually help me recruit my members. Just deal with it, it's not going to ruin the entire game for you.
Im sorry, but i don't see it as a farmers badge. I see it as a means to tell how advanced players are and who i want to invite into my clan. to have to visit everyone is a hassle. More importantly, how is being a high level even tied to farming? all is means is youve played the game long enough to level up all your things. So is this saying that supercell does not respect their long time and loyal players?? And the only plausible way to stop farming is to implement a whole new matchmaking based on a level system... Therefore levels should be brought back.
Oh and anyone who complains about farming is either new to the game or doesn't play enough that supercell should listen to their views and opinions... we all farm once we hit that point where upgrades get ridiculous, or some people quit...
Why punish the loyal active players? the ones who pay their bills....
It is the farmers badge because it is all they have.
Now, when they drop trophies to farm they get the lowly brass/silver shield which makes them look like a noob. This is the core reason why they don't like it. They don't want to look like noobs.
