various terrain maps are needed. Level flat surfaces all boring. Introduce streams, hills, mountains, valleys, etc to allow certain strategic opportunities or concerns.
If you 3 star someone, you should get the opportunity of swapping your terrain for theirs if you like it.
Random allocation initially.

This would just add confusion and complexity to the game. People dont like complex games and supercell probably doesn't want to deal with the game coding.
This would make the game way too complicated in my opinion. There's too much to worry about when youre raiding even now, i cant imagine having to deal with mountains and rivers and such.

Adding some terrain features which take up a set amount of tiles and have impacts for ground and air movements doesn't sound complex to me?...

I agree it does bring in another dimension, but i'm not talking about a terrain awash with various things, the odd stream, hill to slow attackers etc, just will add another bit of spice to the mix i think
