Valid question. When they came out, I didn't take out mine in fear that they'd be discontinued.

It wasn't until I was confident that it was a permanent item before I started getting my gem boxes.

However, they may decide to put an expiration date.

If they did, I would hope they announce it as I would keep my last gem box if it were to be discontinued...
