I don't get the cap at 2K thing. Cause The OP surely has gotten more than that. The drills alone can't provide that much more?
I myself have gotten 2400 and am left wondering how? I assume it was 2K cap on storage plus whats in the drills.

I guess the OP's can be explained by TH difference loot bonus. With full drills and 2k from storage that is still 4.4k max, and he appears to be TH7 based on his storage maximums and troops, so he'd get a 150% bonus on that TH9.
I got 3,600 once....
2,000 from his storage (the max u can get from storage) and 1,600 from his DE pumps, which were max level and apparently full. (His base also had 850k in gold/elixir - I got 750k total... 2 star victory). Sweet raid, perhaps the most I've ever seen playing this game.
