What do you use Dark Elix for?

The thing that annoys me with heroes is the increase in cooldown. Id rather have a lvl 1 BK that i can use every hour than aa lvl 30 BK that i have to wait 4 hours before i can use it again.

I use it for upgrading hog riders and for making them for trophy hunts only, once they are leveled up they just tear through defences and can knock a town hall down in seconds - people don't think they're useful but even 5 behind a giant can be more effective than wizards.

I feel like dark elixir is too precious though, however - sometimes I feel I can't enjoy the troops because of how expensive they are, and sadly they're not even that expensive. I think to myself, "Wow, it's going to take an hour to get the dark elixir back from my level 3 DE drill which I've spent on this single hog rider."

I think the new troops would have been a lot more successful if you paid elixir for them but upgraded the barracks themselves in dark elixir - It would have a lot of people pushing trophies and spending gems too as supercell wants.
