I think that you should be able to use an unlimited amount of troops to attack a clan member's base without looting anything or creating a shield. This would have no other purpose but to educate your clan mates what can destroy their base and how so they can make it better.

Honestly, this idea popped into my mind when I was thinking of how I can tell my clan mates that putting their base in the corner is bad

This idea can be exploited A LOT though. Have your clan member copy an enemy base. Yes he won't get the traps. But you can always guess

The traps are what make bases unpredictable and harder to beat. The buildings are easily seen and it is much easier to plan for those.

If you don't agree, maybe there is an alternative. Make it so you have to spend a lot and use your own spell factories and army camps to attack them.

Or, if you are in a clan war, make it so that your opponents can see your false attacks and they can plan for that and edit their base. Possibly outlaw exploiting it, and if your clan copies a base, your opponents can report you. I don't have an opinion about any sort of punishment, someone else decide that.
