Having trouble at th9

Initially when upgraded from TH8 to TH9, you will feel the nexting cost increase.
Lack of gold/elixir/DE due to many thing to upgrade.

For big expensive items like x-bow, you need to focus and spend 2-3 sessions of 4-6 hours each, preferably during weekend. Each session, even a n00b like me can raid 2-3M gold, and expect to be raided as well for 350k.
With a nett of 2-2.5M gold, I can upgrade x-bow in several session. I'm not hardcore farmer though.

Now I'm way pass mid-TH9, just last level for all cannons, the new mortar & traps, lab research DE stuff, King, Queen and another 60% walls to L9 Lego. I will not wait L10 Lava as TH9, but will go up once all L9 are done.

Max everything that uses Elixir first "not walls" then you can spend it left right and center on good army comps for gold.

Gold 3- Crystal 3 are usually good for GOLD. Above Crystal 3 are for DE.
Always do splash first I reckon.

As a new TH9 myself, I feel your pain.

As a TH8 I was doing pretty well looting in Silver 1 & 2, going for raids with 150k+ of each resource. At TH9 I quickly felt the loot percentage reduction for the lower level THs in that range. So I started my push upwards, which was pretty tough (even with maxed out troops at the TH8 level).

My saving grace was that all 5 builders were free and my gold bins were maxed (for some reason I was having problems finding elixir, so those bins were like half full). I was able to get both X-bows right off and then I could work on all the other new weapons. The Archer Queen was another first purchase, which got rid of all my DE.

Since I was pushing, I put the TH in the middle of the base which was weird at first. I haven't changed my base from my TH8 layout yet, but I did make some slight adjustment with placement of things. Turns out the maxed out TH8 base works pretty well on defense and I've jumped to Crystal with relative ease.

As mentioned by someone else in this thread, Lvl 1 X-bows are pretty lame. They don't do much damage to attackers, but I'm sure that like the skull walls they keep away some potential attackers because it all looks menacing.

Most of the loot I've gotten has been from my revenge list. Good raids are sooooo tough to find. I will see how Crystal 1 and Masters is with loot... if it's good there, I'll stay. If not, I'll drop down to Gold for some easier pickings. Crystal/Masters might be better... even if a base has bad loot, the loot bonus might make up for it.
