Having trouble at th9

So I kind of need some advice/help. I was at th8, doing well with loot, and able to farm pretty easily. Then I upgraded to th9, and I'm having trouble getting/ maintaining loot. I have a harder time finding good loot, and I pretty much lose it all when I go offline. The upgrades are also pretty expensive so that sucks too.
-any advice?
-what trophy range is best for me to farm at, considering I have level 5 troops?
-what should my upgrade order be?

Depends how upgraded you were when you went to TH9, but I found I was able to keep all my builders busy from the get-go at around 1900-2000 trophies. That's where I ended my TH8 farming, and having just gotten TH9 I still considered myself a TH8 with a few extra walls and weak defenses. It can be hard to farm enough for the expensive things like xbow and wiz towers, but once you get those out of the way the rest becomes easy. Don't be afraid to raid TH8 and sometimes even TH7 if they have good loots available

Focus your raid on getting one type of resources first, instead of both gold and elixir. Every time I upgrade town hall, I did this. This way, you are less likely to be raided since you offer only a minimal amount of particular loot.

Since you have just upgraded town hall, it seems better to focus on elixir first and use it to upgrade your troops, army camps and spells. You can use gold for long time project like x-bow, but keep a builder free so you can upgrade walls and empty your storages. After your elixir need no longer critical (tier 1-2 troops and army camps upgraded), you'll find working on gold upgrade easier.

It may also be that you just happened to upgrade to TH 9 at a bad time lol. Good loot frequency isn't as great as it was just few days ago before the update. Inactive bases get flushed down the queue at a fast rate after an update/maintenance, which is probably due to more active bases (with little collector resource) becoming more and more common. As the Halloween update would of course have more people logging in, collecting their mine resources, and dumping them on buildings/walls.

yeah, focus on elix, it is what makes your offence stronger and that is the main benefit from being TH9, isn't it?
to do that you will have to learn to use a cheap army, giants archers, barch, bam, giants goblins.
If gold does accumulate do not spekulate on the x-bows! you will only make your base a bigger target, if you stock pile gold and elix. (you should have reached the end of the TH-upgrade with all storages maxed and full, then you could have gone for both x-bows, if you didn't, then forget them for now)
Lab and spell factory go first, of course, but then use the elix to upgrade those cheap troops and the army camps, then the dex drills.
If you cannot find loot, go up in trophies.
If you do accumulate gold, drop it into teslas - I hope you had those maxed at TH8, because now at TH9 they're the cheapest but also most powerful defence to upgrade.
Back to x-bows, they're not the solution to defence that you think they are at L1, so either take them all the way to L3 or concentrate on wizzard towers, teslas and AD first. Just don't get them to L1 only and then leave them there until the end, that's what I did and it wasn't the best idea because wizzard towers cost more or less the same as L1 x-bows but will one shot archers and goblins...a huge benefit, where as x-bows at L1 only have the dps of an archer tower, and set to ground and air, even the same range.

my best advise is stay on for long periods of time. if you raid 3 mill they can only steal 350k from you. it is tough as a new th. you get smashed all over the place as like and earlier post stated you are a th8 with a couple of extra weak goodies.

i found th9 very easy. it was my best time in coc

Bro, this is a common thing that happens to everyone when you get a fresh upgraded TH...

I was a maxed TH8 (skulls and King L10) and I've been pretty much 2-3 starred by late staged TH8s, premmies TH9s (it was a shame being humiliated by these noobs) / TH10s (mostly noob Hog users) the first 2 weeks i had my new TH9.

The situation was terrible and I was afraid to stock my resources...

I suggest you to start farming with Barch/BAM at gold 2.
Max out your defenses asap, After that... It comes the mid stage: Get at least, all skull walls (thou they are weak, just like L7, they can be intimidating) , climb up to crystal 3 (minimum) and go ALL OUT DE farming, get your heroes the highest level u can, no need to worry for your gold/elix, your lego walls will come along with as time passes by.

Try being at 1600 trophies. I do less than 10 attacks every day and keep 4 builders going with upgrades costing me about 4.5M right now

My town hall's level 9 and I'm finding a lot of loot in Crystal right now. I think Gold I and Crystal are both good for dark elixir but there might be more gold down in Silver I. Just move around and see which trophy range you're comfortable in.
