I use 4 WB, 14 giants, and the rest split between barb's and archers. it costs about 62k elixir. but i can usually hit the collectors and storages and get the league bonus and still make a profit.

That will probably be used more when people get their 4th mortar upgraded

Giant and archer is still being used. Just people prefer barch for some reason. I guess it's having more troops which distract single point defenses much more often. Versus a giant being hit by say 3-4 defences.

That being said I used 200 archer at th7 all the time until now th10 [240]. easier to queue n good for farming.
Fully maxed out TH10 by farming on 27th Feb 2015

You can make 1 giant (5 spaces) in the same time you can make 6 barbarians (6 spaces), so in terms of space there really is not a big difference in time.

I usually raid with 12 giants, 8 wb, 50 barbs and 70 archers. I raid when I reach 200 troops so it's not the full 220 troops available. Giants are great value but there are problems if you don't use them properly. Heroes and CC troops can really chew them up in a few seconds if they get too far ahead of your BARCH troops. Add a decent level AQ and a heal spell and you can core most th8 bases with ease. When a collector base comes up I just use the BARCH troops. I'm thinking unlureable heroes has made giarch/GiBARCH strategy somewhat more risky of late so maybe this is the reason you don't see it so much. It's also more costly than BARCH and lix is pretty scarce. In my opinion though it's a very versatile strategy.

giants are getting way too 'soft' against xbows, infernos and the usual high level single-target defenses. even more so when there's an alternative called golemz
