    Why is giant/archer not used more widely?

    I have recently been using a composition of 10 giants and 150 archers for farming.

    I am a TH7 farming in C3.

    This allows me to easily hit collector bases with the archers and a giant on each AOE defense near an edge. For easy collector raids.

    It also allows me to group the giants and use a healing spell to push deeper into a base when required, for storages or DE farming. For this approach I use 5 wizards in my CC to add to the dps.

    I have been doing some research and very few people seem to be using this approach, which gives so much flexibility.

    Could someone please point out the downside of this attack and why it is not widely used?

    When I was at TH7 I could use just archers/giants for farming, whether it be a collector raid or storage. Now at TH9 there is no way I could do that without taking in some wallbreakers and goblins. I could still do collectors with archers/giants but not storages.

    You never know, I used barch and it worked fine, its just people may prefer other comps.

    Could just be cost? 5 barbarians worth if elixir doesn't add up to one giants worth, both effective tanks

    giants take to long to train. By the time they have trained you could have launched to barch attacks

    Giants are actually faster than archers to train, so training time is not the reason.

    The cost goes from 32k elix to about 49k for using giants and archers over just archers, but that is almost covered by the league bonus.

    I have looked more on google and still hardly find anyone using this.

    Maybe GiArch is not catchy enough...

    It's a few reasons for me...barbs do more damage than giants and also attack collectors and storage - this makes them super versitile.

    I can use barbs to drill through a wall
    I can use single barb drops to scout for traps
    I can use barbs to clear CC and not lose any shooting over wall ability
    Barbs are faster to train - cost about 1/4 as much
    plus they still good tanks.

    Giants don't really have any advantage over barbs except they aren't 1 shot by mega bombs and can take a little more abuse from aoe dmg - really not much though.

    Another reason I don't use giants is the fact they only go for defenses means they run ahead of your archers and go off into other archs of fire when your rather just get the storage's.

    Barbs are faster to build.

    There are a few reasons why I stopped using giants and archers in favor of barbarians of archers. The cost is one thing, I fight in a lot of wars and I'm always short on elixir. The difference really adds up when you're doing hundreds of attacks a season. An equivalent barbarian force, at 7-1, costs 28% that of giants. Also, traps and splash defenses can deal a massive amount of damage to my tanking force with giants, whereas the loss is greatly minimized with barbarians that can deployed in small waves.
