    4th Mortar? Wanna Know Why? Come Here!

    Hi,
    Today, I was thinking about the 4th Mortar.
    Why did Clash of Clans bring ond more mortar to the game?
    Is this because Clashers did request a new mortar?
    Is this just to fill the Halloween Update with new stuff?

    My theory:

    1- To cover all your 4 Corners f your base. This makes sense to me.
    2- A lot of people will buy gems to upgrade this Mortar immediately to the maximum level.
    3- (and most importantly) to balance the game. Yes, every single defense must be Good against some troops and Bad against another troops. The main reason of the 4th mortar is Level-7 Barbarians and Archers.

    I didn't realize people were being 3-starred with level 7 barbarians and archers (or even 2-starred with them) what am I doing maxing my TH9? I need to get these god-like barbarians and archers.

    Do you mean as a way to make it a little more challenging to farm with Barch? Instead of simply randomly throwing a bunch of Barbs and Archers and making hundreds of thousands of resource in return. Maybe...

    But do we really need a reason for a 4th Mortar. The game wasn't unbalanced before a 4th Mortar, and it won't be balanced with the addition of it either.

    I think the real problem here is that bases defenses keep getting more improvements than player's offensive options. A fourth mortar, new levels of teslas and archer towers, a completely new traps (that is almost just a hidden clan castle). Where is the balance to those things? Please, PLEASE do not counter with the lava hound. What a sad, sad troop it is.

    1. I don't think covering 4 corners of our base is a priority for most of us
    2. I honestly don't think this will create huge additional revenue for SC, maybe a little bit... But us players are mostly just meh
    3. Maybe invalid, I'm not sure... Let's just see.

    Us TH9's don't have lvl 7 barch. I must say the new Mortar is bothering me. Farming shouldn't be harder. It takes long enough to farm anyway as currently I am working on Lava walls. The new mortar theoritically will make the process slower which is never good as it will take longer to get the resources. People want quick wins in the game with quick armies. Not 40min armies. The prospect of TH10 with the recent addition of the new mortar, teslas, Archer Tower level, pekka level, lava hound level etc etc is a little overwhelming thinking about it with all the other extra stuff a th10 gets. I think more people than usual will quit specifically th8/9. TH10's won't require much effort to get the new toys as alot are fully farmed as it is apart from walls and heroes.

    I've seen some amazing attacks that incorporated lava hounds with balloons.
    I'm really looking forward to getting lava hounds someday.

    Maybe, just maybe... The 4th mortar and these new traps will throw off the automated bot attacks?

    I think that's exacly the point... They are trying to better balance offense and defense... Offense has been so strong lately that some types of troops were 99% sure to 3-star any maxed base with only a few skills (specifically hogs). Now they are making it harder for those people who simply drop all their hogs in one please and wait for the stars to come.

    Regarding lava hound, I don't have them yet, but had the opportunity to receive some from my clanmates during clan wars... I've been using them both in full drags and baloonions attacks with lots of success... You need to learn when and where to launch it exactly, but it can be a very powerful troop if correctly used. The time it takes for 2 lvl7 air defense to kill those lava hound and your drags or loons are on it. It saves me a freeze spell which I can then better use on the infernos later on !

    Thats because they don't post the failed raids with the hounds.

    They are terrible - as terrible as valks
