I upgrade one or both heroes every week, where possible. I can't farm as fast and as much as OP. I'm ranked #3-#6 in a group of 30-35, so you can say I'm one of the top dogs that need to help the clan. So far I've without both heroes for 6-8 clan wars already (war once a week). It still works, we still win 2:1 ratio, as it depends on a lot of other internal/external factors:
* depending on the match-up, if get weak enemies, then win. Tough ones, sometimes win, sometimes lose (ratio 2:1).
* depends on which enemy to attack. I manage to lavaloon 3* 2 weeks ago without both heroes. Then screw up 2nd attack no-star. Last week lavaloon only get 2* with king only. 2nd attack just get perimeter 1 star for TH9 attacking TH10.
* Understanding clan mates & leader/co. Each of us are either upgrading something at a time. Especially when reach next TH level, without spell factory, weak armies/defense, etc. So, we try to cover each another to attack top enemies.
* Don't join a 100% serious clan-war clan that requires full army with both heroes. Although my clan, we're like 60-70% serious about spending to attack. Generally, we don't profit from clan wars, instead spending more elixir than gain. If we fail an attack, we fail. We don't do post-mortem analysis with everyone.
* Plan ahead. Sometimes if my king/queen is ready, and war in coming 2-3 days, even with enough DE storage, I make a 50-50 decision whether to delay 2-3 days (or attack earlier in war) to utilise it, then only start upgrade. Of course, this will delay if to follow OP exact plan. However, it gives you option to try out the heroes, as well as to see the each level upgrade strength/power.
With this early attack within first 6 hours, once I start upgrade 7 days, this hero will be ready for next war.
e.g. War starts 12pm Sat. I attack both, and start upgrade Sat 6pm. It'll be ready next Sat 6pm, so I can use for next war between 6pm Sat till 12pm Sun. If I make early attack Sat 6pm-12am, then following week same method. Repeat.
This means, I won't be available for last hour clean-up. Again, it depends on your clan/leader if this is acceptable.
But I will be around to donate high level troops for clan mates CC to attack. I'm always the top 3 (if not top 1) donator in the clan.
I'm using slightly different army combo, a bit more expensive:
- 99 each archer & barb
- 2x giant
- 6x wall breaker
- heal and jump spells - use sparingly to save elixir.
WB is more useful and faster at times, rather than barbs hitting at walls with heal spell, while 2-3 mortars pound on them.
King - upgrading 16 to 17
Queen - finish 19 today. Going to start 20, thinking to delay till after weekend war.
I'm a huge de ♥♥♥♥♥ myself (as u can tell form my siggy). I would be much lower if my collectors and defences were at ur level but right now my goal is 3mill HH @ lv100. I pickup collector raids when i see them but I fundamentally look for de above all else since the higher my heros are... the stronger my farming comp is and that means MORE LOOT.
