So as you may surely know by now, the fourth mortar is now out. This is not a discussion about the fourth mortar impacting the game, etc. rather, to talk about the changes required and techniques needed to be used to suit this new update.
Popular and well known bases are also affected. Including, but not limited to the Tesla Theme Park, Pokeball, Trapception, the Infinite Family bases, etc.
I will explain why TH9/10s will not be affected as much but will allow them to consider better placement for the mortars.
Fortunately, most bases have an extra pocket or two to fit spare buildings such as DE drills or collectors. The problem with this is that one defense will have to be moved out (assuming the mortar is placed in the second layer) and another will be pushed out. For an example, refer to this image:
Lets assume that the 4th mortar will be placed in the second layer. This will mean either a WT, AD or storage to be pushed towards the outside. Same conflict with these famous designs:
In the Pokeball the mortar would most logically be placed where the AD is. This would cause either the AD or WT to be moved out to the outer layer.
Same issue with Trapception.

The least affected TH levels are the TH9 and 10s where in most designs, mortar placement is dismissed almost as a point defense category. Refer to these images:
Fujin.
River Styx.
The Prime is an exception in this case.
Prime B.
Of course, there are still plenty of TH9 designs which feature protected mortars but this thread is not to discuss that point.
TH10 bases:
Etc.
Thoughts? I personally suggest at least a wall compensation. 5-10 walls is enough to fix these changes and give overall protection to the valuable buildings. My upcoming base, and bases to come, will be majorly affected along with everyone else.
