Clan wars. No, not the answer. Not without an opt out. Getting 50 high level farmers to want to war at the same time is not easy. If even one is not commited, you will lose the war. We get matched to some power clans ... to be fair, we are a power clan ourselves perhaps capable of a top 200 spot if we tried...top 300 for sure. We went there before when all of us had weaker bases and heroes...

Yes, almost time to stop playing. That is my point. I dont want to but SC are boxing players like me into a corner...its the sad fact...

Im max 10, lv35 heroes, half lava walls.
Im in similar boat to you. I wall grind, occasionally 🏆 push, and war twice a week. Its all there is left to do.
However, the mortar and skellie trap are CHANGING the game, maybe slightly, but probably more than you think.
If your clan cant put a war together, dont. If it isnt strong enough to withstand kick-inviting half of them (we do, 40 members, 20-25 war, all come back), then dont.
If you dont want to grind walls, dont.
In short, if you dont enjoy playing/are not determined enough to grind out the things you have left to upgrade (walls/heroes) then quit. Just quit moaning first.
I will re-iterate. This update may not fix loot, but has to improve it by some amount, and the att/def balance has been changed. Those make for a significant update, without a load of new building levels.

Please explain the 4th Mortar at TH8.

Why did the development team suddenly decided to add a defensive building to TH8? What does it intend to balance?

Although i'm a th9 player (few more weeks to maxed out and move up) i think its good that the 4th mortar will be available at th8. I guess we all remember the days in th8 that you got attacked by giants lvl6 quite often and its almost every single time you get a 100% loss. Maybe the 4th mortar could bring in some ballance.
Although i also agree that in th8 most defences were in trio (wizztower, airdef and mortar) so it would have made more sence to unlock it at th9 like the other defences. Still guess th8 is quite fair and not get overrun every single time. But we will have to see how it all work out. Could be i'm in the wrong

Other updates/upgrades seem very nice and i can not wait to see it all in action.

One thing tho with the new update is that i would have loved to see a xp-level criteria at the clan profile. I know you can Write that down in the text but for some reason nobody reads it.. Would be nice to set our clan as open and not have to kick players with a xplevel that is too low for like every 5 seconds. Some players see the invite only sign and don't even bother to request to get in.

Sounds awesome! Additional mortar will definitely play hard on all those that barch. Now if you guys could just do something about those balloons. Over 40 balloons and the ability to wiggle your little finger pretty much guarantee's at least a win 85% of the time. No skill required, air support to balance this should be considered. It is currently lop sided in a huge way for the attacker. Thanks for the improvements!! I look forward to the new additions!!

I dont like the loot situation but this update is great. Creative and keeps the game fresh. Elixir is still very hard to get but maybe league bonus will help somewhat. I hope its more then the 20% that clan wars is getting.

P.s. I believe ♥♥ will continue to find ways to make elixir more available in future updates.

Then use the new clan search features and find a smaller clan that wars all the time. Supercell isn't boxing you into a corner, you've exhausted the content of the game. When you finish playing a single player console game, do you go find the developers website and blame them for not extending the single player content? Go have some fun in clan wars, stop whining. You'll be happier.

Yay! I like new things! I'm th9 and not struggling to get loot and am also looking forward to the new morter on th8's, more for me to destroy for the achievement, thanks supercell

What is loot golden hour?

Whenever there is maintenance break, it forces everyone,a lot of them unshielded, offline.
If they do not get back to playing immediately afterwards, they will be available to raid when they normally wouldnt want to be. Ie, full storages, or high 🏆s. Get in fast for some nice finds.
