Hi community and devs.
Before I begin, I did an advanced search to see if there were any previous blacksmith titled threads. What I found was that many were ruled out and deleted because they didn't have any merit or depth. So just bare with me, I have a few ideas that might require some shifts in game coding and quite a lot of work, but that could change the game for the better with varied defensive/attack strategies. Similar to the sculptor in Boom Beach, more or less, but updated to better suit clash.
Blacksmith
The idea behind this is to provide temporary benefits. Previously shutdown blacksmith idea threads have been based on a lasting benefit or a permanent buff to troops. Which is basically just a troop upgrade from say level 6 to 7...or having to add another category of calculation, like armour, etc.,.
The idea behind my blacksmith is like the sculptor in Boom Beach. For those that haven't played it or are not high level in the game, the sculptor lets players create statues that provide buffs in the form of troop/building health/damage% increase, resource increases, and power stone chance drop rates (used to create statues).
My blacksmith is more like a goblin tinker gone wrong that gives temp benefits.
I wouldn't want a direct port from Boom Beach however as it would require an ENORMOUS amount of re game balancing. My idea is to provide a direction of paths to take that are temporary and provide a boost in that particular path.
Now I realise that Supercell and the devs have probably thought this out before and it's been ruled out, so please just read through firstly and provide me with feedback on the below blacksmith abilities and the viability of a blacksmith as temporary buffs that take effect for a cost for only a given amount of time, e.g. 2 hours. Thanks.
Only one ability may be used at a time, so if you choose a ranged benefit that is the only ability you can use. Cool downs could also be an option...
Blacksmith Abilities
Mechanical Arms
Provide ranged troops with a damage % increase for X amount of hours
Platinum Plate
Provide melee troops with a health % increase for X amount of hours
Far Sighted Goggles
Provide additional range for air-borne troops for X amount of hours
Colossal Leggings
Provide a slight movement and attack rate increase to larger troops, pekkas, golems, lava hounds.
Fortifications
I know "spires" has been shutdown before, but this a temporary buff for X amount of hours (e.g. 6/12/24) that is a drop and deploy defensive spell that gives a building health % increase for that length of time. This might require a lot of game coding to implement on the base menu screen but the benefit would be to supplement a particular area of your base from attack. Both good for wars, farming or trophy hunting but not overpowering a % increase of all buildings HP. It would increase a new dynamic of strategy and attack/defense. The range would be similar to a healing spells range and might be a blue'ish gel like ability that adds some graphical fortified changes to the buildings for attackers to notice.
Bombard!
Similar to "fortification" this would be a drop and deploy ability to provide an increased damage % of defensive buildings. It would also be a healing spell range and dropped on defensive buildings to increase their attack damage when defending. It would be a pulsing red type placement circle with graphical red pulsing in that area for attackers to identify those buildings as having more attack output.
More abilities could be incorporated over time. I realise that these could be deemed as spells and rightly so are just that. It does provide an added level of gameplay that I think could launch Clash of Clans to a whole new level of strategy and inventiveness separate of new troops or game balancing.
Ideas? Thoughts? Improvements? Cons?
@ the devs and Supercell, what are your thoughts on this?! I'd love for you to discuss this as a project idea to implement in future.
