Supercell is a company
Companies have to make money
They make money from people buying gems
So some things in the game cost gems

If it wasn't that you could gem heroes to get them back in war, it would be something else.
It feels to me, that having heroes take a week to upgrade and not be available is fair enough.
You don't have to gem them/You don't have to war without them/You don't have to war - it's your choice
Would you like to suggest some other place you'd like to place gem cost in the game?
You want troops to take 4 times longer to build so we need to boost barracks?
You want heroes to take 2 times as long to heal so we need to boost their healing?
Please make a suggestion for what should cost gems instead here....
I'ts not that I have high level heroes and have been through that pain (although I have, and I just didn't war, didn't see the big deal really) it's that I can see the consequence of getting this is more pain somewhere else.
I think this is a fair place for the cost to sit, since it's entirely optional.
