Just because the OP is banned doesn't mean a good idea (yes, I said a GOOD idea) like this should be closed. It's a place for the forumers to discuss one of the most needed improvements to the game, and there is no harm in doing so.
Yes, this may cause a slight loss in income but I also have to remember that there are tons of other ways for SC to get money. Just off the top of my head: gems for boosting, gems for builder's huts, gems for resources, gems for finishing building upgrades, gems for finishing troop/spell training, gems for finishing laboratory work.
While it may cause a loss in revenue, there's two reasons why I think it wouldn't have too much effect. First of all, many casual players like me have never gemmed a hero upgrade, even if it means sitting out of war. This also makes players like me not happy, making all the more reason for SC to add this.
Second of all, it's a one time thing. I'm thinking SC doesn't earn nearly as much money from people gemming hero upgrades than people boosting or finishing troop/spell training. Why? There's only 78 upgrades for heroes. There's infinite gemming for troop/spell training and boosting, as there is no limit. And, not everyone likes grinding heroes so that decreases the income from gemming hero upgrades even more. It's not permanent, so it would make more of an impact when and if this feature would be first introduced which would later even out.
And I just thought of another reason: introducing this feature doesn't mean people will stop gemming their hero upgrades. People will still want to level them up.
Again, I still think this is necessary and I'm pretty sure it's not much of a technical problem, but I'm not tech-savvy. I just don't think you speaking on behalf of the SC staff will make things any better and don't appreciate when you start rejecting everyone who likes this idea. But that's just me
