I'm all for having the heroes upgrade in a lab format. Maybe call it the gym or training grounds. Just for hero training. That way you can still attack with them. Having your king or queen down for 6 days makes me almost not play for a whole week. Come on supercell! Do us a solid!
As a new Th9 I'm not looking forward to not having my new queen in war when she's upgrading and since there's so many levels I agree. I think this is an awesome idea.

Here are a few more characters.
TH 10 getting close to Max defenses and lab. Hero's: 25-ish.
Walls are just lvl 9+ (only a few lvl 10 at this point).
Can use for defense but not attack.. Make them can attack for war while upgrading
