It is not your place to call people this or that or insult people...when you call people whiners you are insulting others.
I think generally most people are looking for information or seeing if other people are having the same issues...

    New newspaper - unwanted customers

Okay, I'm a new player and have read through this thread with great interest, (though not every post I admit), and have a few thoughts to add. They are intended to be helpful, but just from another point of view. Firstly, I only have three friends, one is my daughter and the other two are people I've met through the forum who have kindly offered help/advice. I have no followers. I have followed a couple of farms just to show them to my daughter, that's all. However, after finally working out how to sell produce by putting several things on display and then advertising, I stopped selling from my stall because I realised that I needed the Xp from truck deliveries if I wanted to progress levels. Two days with no adverts and I decided to re-sell something on the stall because I had had to buy too much of something. It sold immediately without an advert.
Obviously this is not a problem for me but I wonder if it helps shed any light on your problem.

Here's what makes me sad though, there's obviously a contingent of all you well meaning people out there who want to look after your friends and that's understandable, no one like greedy players. But you run the risk when you boycott the newspaper of not helping new players and essentially creating 'a game within a game'. Which is going to shut so many people out. There's almost nothing in the paper except bacon and eggs, and no way for new players to ever find your farms, buy produce from you or make friends with you, and that's a shame because you're probably not meaning to do that.

I never advertise and I have piles of friends who I found via this very forum. I prefer it that way as I have a sense of the kind of player they are, and I also have a possible means of interacting with them here rather just by a trite, generic 'thank you' note ingame.
Anyway you can't make a friend request to someone whose farm you visited by way of the DD unless they have their GC id in their farm name. You can follow a farm fair enough but that is limited, and the 'facelessness' of followers makes them unattractive to many people.

Say no to sugar/dairy boats!! Don't fill em, don't open any crates, just turn the water cannon on them and wait for the next one!

That's an interesting thought about the bne problem in ads which other threads have addressed.

IMHO the fact there is so much BnE is not caused by the few players who are on the forum discussing the newspaper issue and wanting to sell to their own friends.

It is largely because making it frees 6 barn spaces and it is expensive and doesn't take any sugar or dairy product to make. It's easy to make and is not used in any other machine. All other machines that make end products (products that are not used in other machines) require some dairy or sugar. Cake machine, bakery, ice cream maker, the pie oven, coffee machine, candy machine. (juice just takes so long to produce anyway to make enough for boat orders that no one likes to likes to sell it bulk.

    I digresss....

The game will never be made exclusive to those who are friends. as most have 200 or so friends to have more stalls, and to have this exclusive in game you mention all 200 people have to not be advertising.

There are millions playing this game, and exclusive selling is only a small feature of the game, which you have to learn by consciously deselecting the green advertise button. So no, BnE is Really not caused by people on this thread who like to sell to their friends. And the problem at hand is defeating the feature of being able to untick the advertisement button.

Also, anonymous new players can't make friends with you for long if you don't put your GC or your FB name on the farm title. Also, most people would naturally find creepy followers who just come in and buy everything from your shop. I am sure you would if your daughter asked you for something and a creepy stranger takes it before she gets a chance to get to your shop.

Welcome to the forum. Think of it this way. A car salesperson can sell a car to a family member at one price and a car to Joe Schmo at another price. The salesperson may lose money on the family discount but is glad to help. However, if a the car disappeared every time the family member put the keys into the lock of their new car after a while he/she would be pretty upset. Filing a police report to track down the thieves fall on deaf ears. The salesperson may have other cars to sell and there are tens of thousands of other cars available from other car lots down the road but the salesperson still should have the option of saving a special car for a friend or family member and the theft should still be investigated.
If you think it's not the same because real money is not involved, think again. I have spent lots of money buying diamonds in order to procure things on my farm. Perhaps that is one reason why we want to sell to our friends. This is real money coming out of real bank accounts. Why should total strangers get the items that we purchased with our expensive diamond currency?

Hay Day is currently number 2(?) app in the App Store so I think there are more than enough players to fill in for the few who prefer to play with just a select number of people. I have about 20 people on my friends list and if I sell something to a friend that item still ends up back in the game at some point. I would prefer for a friend to have a chance to get the item at a reduced price from me rather than a hyper inflated price elsewhere. Quite frankly, I enjoy the satisfaction of helping others, especially new players, fill boat orders or revive plants. Many times the bandits are just snatching up low priced items to resell at max price, so I cant see how this helps new players at all. Just this afternoon I tried to sell some land expansion items at very low cost to a lower level neighbor who really needed the items. Unfortunately he wasn't able to get a single item because of the bandit.

In addition, like with every game or app I have privacy concerns. I quit Facebook, G+, Instagram, etc...because I felt like there was a total loss of control over who had access to my photos and personal information. Now, I know that playing Hay Day is quite different. The feeling, however, of some player stalking my farm (if that is what's happening) and seeming to know exactly when I was about to put a rare item for sale, is a bit creepy. Because we aren't being told why or how our farms are being raided for me personally this is an issue that may or may not be related to privacy concerns and possible bugs in the system.

This "game within a game" you referenced really boils down to player choice. Not all players want to be competitive and some of us are playing HD as a leisurely past time. I want to be able to choose my level of privacy (within certain parameters), choose my level of competition/visibility in regards to leader boards, choose who is allowed to follow my farm and/or block unwanted followers, and choose if my farm can be seen and raided by a few or the entire planet. It used to be that we could choose if and when we wanted to sell goods to other players. I knew that once I filled my entire store and clicked the advertise button that it would be a free-for-all available to anyone in the game but if I wanted to only place a few special items in the stalls for a few people that the items would remain there until they retrieved them. That has changed recently for whatever reason. Obviously, I can choose to quit playing Hay Day altogether though I suspect SC would prefer to retain players and their money. I, like many, am hoping that the issue gets fixed so that I don't have to make that choice but if the raiding is here to stay then I want to know that too so that I can react accordingly.

**As for the bacon and eggs surplus, it's one of the few items that don't require sugar and/or dairy so that's about the only thing players in the lower levels can make. The lack of player demand for bacon & eggs could be fixed by the devs by adding that to the boat orders instead of sugar or by increasing the demand for it on the work board. Or by creating new uses for the product. Or by releasing more rare items in the locked boxes. You get the idea. I personally don't ever make eggs & bacon as there isn't any demand for it. Actually, I rarely even use the grill anymore. I'd like to be able to store or sell the machine and just buy the occasional (very rare) order for grill items but that is not an option at this point. For now it just sits unused just like my popcorn and wool machines. I have plenty of gold coins that I can just buy what I need without the low demand items clogging up my barn space.

Sorry if I just repeated what you said, Swisspie. I waited to post my response and didn't read yours before I finished writing mine. But I agree with you!

Another problem with the instantaneous mysterious shopper is, even if you do want to advertise, the goods are gone before you even have the chance to click the advertise button, meaning even less good items in the paper ( unless they are turning up in there anyway!)
