This definitely annoys me as well. Higher level storage have more hit points so in theory it should protect against lightning attack more, but it doesn't. What about a new 'Dark Elixir Storage LV7" that doesn't store any more dark elixir (you don't need more than 200k anyway) but have increased hit points, so lightning attacks and other attacks won't get as much dark elixir overall?
You know, I find it funny how this thread is still going from 2014, even though the first reply was a SC staff member that said they had no intentions of changing this. Am I really the first person to notice this?

I'm a max town hall 10 in terms of elixir upgrades with 5 max level lightning spells, only thing is I gotta get those level 40 heroes. How? lightning! Why? im a lazy boi
The reason the thread is still going is because is the single most frustrating thing about COC and people want it to change. Supercell said that they had no plans to change it but that was a year ago. To be honest I would ask people keep this thread going until something is done about it.
Revenge simply does not work. At this moment am saving my DE for my TH9 which will finish next Sunday. I had 80k DE two days ago I now have 72k mostly because of lightning spells from noobs. I've had to raid hard for all that only to get hit several times a day by a TH 7 who would probably have very little chance of raiding my maxed out TH 8 base for it at all. I am sitting in Gold one, I don't want to go up to the next league so stars are unimportant to me at the moment and obviously unimportant to the noobs who are L spelling you or they would at least attack my TH which is sitting outside of the base.
Lets put this into a scenario: Some noob L-Spells my DE. I log on and flatten their base, usually I wait a week to make sure they have saved enough up so it hurts them more as a lesson. However the chances are you are unlikely to get a return out of the attack in fact its nearly better to go din someone holding DE at your level. You are capped in what you can get out of them and they have significantly smaller stores and they may have spent it by the time you get a window to attack them. Now lets add another 7 L-Spells and no TH attacks. On average I lose about 700 DE every time this happens, that's 4900 DE lost to L spells. I cannot keep up with that. It's impossible to revenge them all and maintain a profit. This has actually happened to me today, now they all have shields I'm down nearly 5k in DE and there is little to nothing I can do about it.
Cannot wait till TH9 pops so I can just get rid of it. Just please add a feature where I can use a defense on my stores against lightning. Even something you have to arm like the way you do with traps. Anything please.

A year ago when the original SC response was made, th7s didn't have drills, and th8s only had 1. Now th7s have a drill and th8s have 2. Really no reason for lightning spells to earn loot anymore.
Sure it does. More searching, more reading, more understanding. Zapping is good for the game even though I am getting zapped, especially because you don't like it. The details are in thousands of theads including this one.
