I've been farming in Gold I for about a week now, slowly making my way to Crystal III. I'm surprised by the abundance of collector raids I've been finding. Really helps with these TH8 upgrades. Also, out of curiosity, how well do TH8s fare off in Crystal III? Is it a fight to stay or is it kind of half and half?
I'm nearly maxed( except walls, just started skulls), and I switched to this base last week because I was trying to find anything to defend against lvl 6 giants. Got attacked for the first time this morning by a nearly maxed th9, and they got 66% against me, but less than 1/4 of my resources because the giants kept going in circles while my mortars and teslas finished them off.Originally Posted by Bwandowando

You guys think this base is possible with mass lvl 3 dragons?
Maybe I could take out top corner with barb king/iron fist. put a dragon in the right corner to clear that out then deploy the rest in the top right segment to kill it and head to mid?

Well when you have about a million of each resource TH9's love to demolish you, but if you don't have that much then you mainly get TH sniped. So yeah half and half.
Just made Th8 about a week ago or so. So far its been a pain in the ♥♥♥. about 10 days in i have managed to make the new buildings and bring them th th7 levels, ( air def to 5, wiz to 4, archer to 8, storage to 10) got a air def going to 6, the dark barracks unlocking golems, and have my barbs, archers and wizards upgraded to 5 in the lab. Got all my walls to lvl 6 to have the elixir option unlocked
I sit around 1500 trophies and get smashed by level 6 giants way to often.
I raid for elixir only as its takes so much longer to gain that ans i got so much elixir I need for lab updates then walls. The gold comes as an afterthought fast enough to keep 3-4 builders busy.
I plan to use one builder for splash ( wizard tower / mortar ) one for air def, and one for point. Because if i do to much splash at once i will get raided to often. 4th is for teslas.
About done with Town Hall 8, after.... I can't even remember how long, Haha.
Just have one more level on my mortar (which will start as soon as I can after this one is over tomorrow), Hogs to level 4, and then Valks and Golem uprades (I think they both stop at level 2) correct me if I'm wrong please. Everything else is maxed out for the Town Hall level.

The strategy on how to play different between good farmer and lousy farmer. Good farmer can plan the exact sequence of upgrade as they are able to farm enough resources to follow this plan. I am a lousy farmer. As such, I dont really plan which defense to upgrade first. Once I get enough resources for any upgrade, I quickly use it up. If not, they will be taken away to looters. There are days whereby I am lucky with farming I will try to get higher resources for the more expensive upgrade, when when luck is not with me, I will upgrade whichever is available with current resources.
However, to help in farming, I set my priorty to upgrade offense troops, if possible.

lets just put it this way, th9 have lots of expensive upgrades and the strongest farming armies in the game available. If they see you have a ton of loot available they will steamroll your base with level 6 giants, spells, bk and aq, and a bit of archers too.. It's not fun... Just stick around gold 2 or 3 imo.
