Could gems b raided...

Occurred to me as it is clash of clans, gems should be available to raid wherever someone's village isn't tidy, or alternatively given as a bonus for winning an attack. Now I understand some people buy them. I don't because I like to achieve targets without any help other than get advice from my clan mates. So as not to create problems, maybe this should only apply to gems on village ground, not purchased ones. Might make the game even more exciting? Seeing as free gems are rare... And achievements take time to complete. Just a thought

I could just go to sub 200 and farm gems, I wouldn't have to raid for gold/elixir/DE since I could just farm gems and buy the resources, and barely anyone would buy gems meaning less profit for SC.

You make a valid point although I don't believe that is what would necessarily happen. You are basing your point on personal experience of playing the game. Everybody has their own way as you do. Assuming that is what everybody would do, then wouldn't most people also purchase gems as the option is there too? I'm sure there are a great number of players who do not. I think that with some limit as for donations of troops it could work...

You can justify it until you are blue in the face, supercell won't let you have the ability to control how much free gems you can receive. Plain and simple. They have a cap, the max regeneration time of obstacles and gem boxed to remove. If you can raid for gems, they no longer can control the maximum amount of free gems an individual can earn.

They won't relinquish this power.

They will never, while the game is still a great revenue source, allow you to farm gems and yes people will farm gems.
