I've spent $30 and I have what's in the bold...it's not hard to be good without spending, you just have to be willing to put in your time.

4mil gold costs me 1400 gems (not that I ever buy resources).
1 xbow costs 6mil gold.

$128 gets me 14000 gems.
I can't imagine 14000 lasting very long with instant upgrades and filling resources to purchase towers/upgrades.
If I want to instantly finish my level 4 wizard tower (3d 13h left), it will cost 577 gems.
I doubt that 2000 pounds would do it either lol.
