In one of my recent raids, I dropped archers to attack a collector on the other side of an open wall, but strangely some of the archers targeted another collector which was behind another enclosed wall behind the first closest collector, the archer walked around the wall to the closest collector to attack the 2nd one behind it. Any idea what's going on with that? Random stupidity?
There is some randomization to the targeting, so it could be that. I've also seen a lot of weird behavior from archers especially- maybe just because the ranged attack leaves more possible targets.
Also, this may not be what happened in your case, but I've noticed that archers don't like to target buildings that are closer than their usual firing range. For example, if you drop an archer right next to an exposed building, it generally will target a neighboring building first.
Yeah I was thinking that it may have been dropped a bit too close (seen that before), however I dropped it on the other side of a wall, there's 2 blocks in between the drop zone and the beginning of the target (perimeter + wall).
Troop AI causes you to face palm from time to time, nothing to be done about it just know everyone suffers from it. So at times when it works against you know that when your attacked it is also working against your opponent.
