ALERT: Don't upgrade TownHall to Level 9! Big Mistake!

I always aim for the top. So i will keep upgrading to the max until I reach it. Nothing can satisfy me more than knowing I did all that after all the hurdles that this quest will put me through.

But as a TH4, (pls don't laugh), i have done my research, and keep doing so. I am still learning a few tricks here and there. I have read posts and read videos so thank you so much for the input.

i may encounter the same thing when I do upgrade, but at the end of the day, it's just a game. I do understand the frustrations of being looted by an attacker, i know coz I am also the same.

This definitely sounds very challenging. Thanks for the warning but advising people not to upgrade is somehow a bit disappointing. Sorry that you have spent all that money that you may think is useless. But I think this somehow benefitted all the CoC players because this would somehow can be used in maintaining or upgrading the game.

Anyways, if this is still here, I will let you know what happens.

Biggest mistake I've ever made on Clash Of Clans!

Okay, so I spent $25 on clash of clans 12 days ago. Half of the gems went to the money for TownHall because I didn't feel like farming 4mill gold, because that would take a couple days. The other half of the gems went to finishing the wait time on my lvl 6 mortars. When my TownHall finally upgraded to level 9 I was so excited! I was ready to start farming again...But, oh no. I've already spent 200k gold trying to find a base to farm off of and still haven't found anything! All of the bases only had 10-80k, barely enough to cover the troop cost! I've tried farming with these following trophy levels; 1200-1300, 1300-1400, 1400-1600, nothing is working!!! As a fellow clash of clanner, I demand SuperCell to fix this!

I hope none of you upgrade your TownHall to level 9 to early! Don't let SuperCell ruin the fun

I m able to farm high lvl TH8 wif my Lvl6 troops, TH9 is a must... Having trouble farming? Stay at TH8 then. The only constant is change, adapt to it.... Lol... Im glad i m TH9

judging from the youtube link of your base, it still a weak th8 base to be upgraded to th9, maybe thats why it didnt work well for you. Its hard to save up for a wall upgrade in the normal pace, what more if you rushed the th. Sorry about your misfortune.

I must admitt that I don't really understand all the rage about loot penalties. I'm TH9 and loving it and I don't gem at all. I was completely maxed out at TH7 with pink walls all around when I upgraded my TH to lvl 8. I then skipped TH8 all together and upgraded straight to TH9 as soon as the builder was done.

I did this cause I wanted the X-bows and Archer Queen. This was before the legue system came into play, but the loot penalties was still there. Of course it was harder in the beginning, but honestly, I would have been seriously disapointed if the game didn't get harder as I progressed through it. I had to adjust my base design and my offensive strategy to accomodate to the new condotions. But I would have been really disapointed if I hadn't had to do that.

My point in all of this is that upgrading way too soon will make it harder for you, yes. But if you honestly thought that progression through the game wouldn't make it more challanging I'm not sure what to tell you. It's like that in every single game in the world from Tetris and Super Mario to Clash of Clans. And imo, that's the way it should be.

I don't thibk that downgrading is a viable option, I don't think supercell owes you anything or that they have decived you in any way. I do belive that a info screen with what the TH upgrade brings would be good tho.


I also find it rather strange to see people that still question supercells methods. It's a game designed to make them money but that is still playable for free. The only thing you can buy for gems is time. Nothing else. Either the time it takes to train troops, to farm resources or the time to upgrade buildings. You can't gem for skills, for strategies or a good base design. If you're impatiant enough to rush your TH straight to lvl 9 without thinking it through, well, I don't think you will ever be happy playing this game without rushing everything else. I.e. Get used to gemming or work on your patiance.

I upgraded from straight fro TH7 to TH9 without gemming and without any problems. At the time I farmed at around 1400 and it was awsome. Atm I farm at around 1900-2100 and the loot is more than enough.


e loot penalty system is good, it is needed to give respite to the lower lvl townhalls. Otherwise you would HAVE TO upgrade to lvl 9 to be viable to farm.

In conclusion, the issue isn't the game or Supercell, it's your own lack of patiance and your willingness to blame others for your own shortcomings that stands in your way.

Suck it up and play the game. It's a beutiful game and I salute Supercell for creating it. It's just awsome!

why downgrade? lol just reset the game its not even hard to do, people just go like "oh its not possible, theres no restart button in the game" of cause its possible lol go delete clash of clans, remove the data from the game center and install it again (or use a new game center when installing again) and boom you're back to th1

I have been playing CoC and building my village since September. I don't want to flush it all down the toilet. And yes I am stuck as a premature th9 and yes I am ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because SuperCell didn't warn anything about this.
And before giving any "tutorials" on how to reset the game, first make sure that it actually works. Deleting Game Center data does not reset your base

So, you have one very disappointed customer right now and possibly several others. I warn all of you to upgrade as much as you can with a level 8 TownHall, because from there, it all goes down hill guys. I wish I never bought the gems to upgrade TownHall to level 9 now.

I hope none of you upgrade your TownHall to level 9 to early! Don't let SuperCell ruin the fun from the game for you! I am never spending another dollar on this game until they bring back possible loot to steal percentages up.

I used to think that rushing Town Hall upgrade is a good idea because it unlocks many things, but little did I know that there is a loot disadvantage associated with it. Why can't Supercell inform players during the tutorial about this? Fortunately for me, though, a friend told me about the loot disadvantage, and I've always maxed upgrades first before upgrading Town Hall ever since. There are, however, many people who are unaware of this issue. I have been told by clanmates so frequently that it's become annoying to upgrade Town Hall and have been telling them so many times that I won't because of the loot disadvantage, which they either don't listen to or believe. Now I am not a victim of the mistake of rushing Town Hall, but I feel for people who have made this mistake because it could have been me. Enough people have been victimized. Please fix this, Supercell! Please inform players of the consequences of upgrading Town Hall during the tutorial.
