Introduction
Following the success of The Jellyfish, and my upgrade to Town Hall 10, I began searching for a base to use in Clan Wars. Not satisfied with the results of my search efforts, I began working on a modified version.
Introducing...
The Metroid!
Re-using the basic structure that thrived for The Jellyfish, I made some key changes in The Metroid, that completely renovate its effectiveness. These changes include: the additional defenses that come with TH10, increased firepower in key areas, and re-located resource buildings.
Goals
My main goal for the base was an optimization in Clan Wars. It is designed to be successful against many common TH10 compositions, including: GoWiPe, GoWiWi, and mass Dragons.
The layout is as bottom heavy as ever, encouraging attacks from the north.
I believe The Metroid could also be successful as a high-cup trophy base, as resource protection isn't as important when you have gems
Base-building Process
The Core:
I started off with a fairly simple Th10 core, housing centralized Heroes, Clan Castle, and Xbows. The Heroes and Clan Castle are key to this base being successful, as they provide essential distractions for Dragons, Pekkas, and Heroes. This core provides plenty of firepower as well as protection for my Heroes during defenses.
Clan Castle:
One of the most important features of this base is the Clan Castle composition. If you haven't already found a clan you enjoy, try to find one with good troops, it really helps on defense! I use 2 max Witches and 11 max/lvl 6 Barbarians. You would think this composition would result in a disadvantage against air raids, but it actually does the opposite. This is due to the fact that the Barbarians/Skeletons won't target Dragons, only troops on the ground. So when the attacker drops their heroes, or any other ground troops, my clan castle will chase them, which pulls the dragons to take them out.
Sub-Core:
The sub-core contains my Mortar triangle, as well as my Infernos, Teslas, and Air Traps. Single Infernos stop thick troops such as Golems, Pekka, Dragons, and Heroes. Air traps are key for taking care of Dragons and Balloons, and are positioned at the top as most air raids will rush for the town hall. Teslas are great at both, and add an immense amount of firepower.
No-Man's Land
I like to call these top 2 compartments "No-Man's Land," because they are usually the area where troops get overwhelmed and distracted. Enemy troops get stuck on the Gold Storages and Wizard Towers, while my Clan Castle, Heroes, Inferno Towers, and Teslas are all firing at them from behind a wall.
Side Compartments and Golem Lures:
The side compartments help provide the left and right Mortars some protection. The top 2 Cannons help stop Hogs from luring the Clan Castle. The bottom 2 Air Defenses help lure Golems attacking from the bottom away from the core of the base.
The Stingers:
The "Stingers" of the Metroid base are arguably the most important part. I mean how else could this little guy defend himself? Obviously, they are the Southern Teaser part of the base. Their job is to make this area look as un-appealing as possible to Golem Compostions. We want the Town Hall to look miles away from the bottom of the base, which it does. Most attacks WILL come from the top.
Summary:
30+ Clan Wars later, the Metroid is by all means a seasoned veteran. It has proven to be one of the most successful TH10 bases i have come across. Please note, that this base is meant for Clan Wars. The Metroid in no way protects resources, but instead uses them as a meatshield.
As we continue to war, I will be updating this thread with defense logs as well as replays. Below are 2 defense replays that my good friend, Jake from OneHiveRaids, was kind enough to record for me:

Big shout out to everyone over at OneHive! <3
