This may already be ruled out but please consider allowing players to use heroes on attack while they are upgrading. If that is out of the question please allow it just for clan wars. I am in a full time war clan and upgrading a hero cripples ability to get stars. It is an unfair advantage for those clans that have maxed heroes.

You're talking about removing a standing revenue stream (gemming the king to finish upgrade). Let me sum it up for you in four words: Not going to happen
As far as it's availability for Clan Wars, I agree that it should be treated like any other upgrade in relation to clan wars. It should be available at the level it was at prior to commencing the upgrade. We don't war more than once or twice a week, so upgrading the king at least at this point is just something people wait on, so it doesn't affect us all that much. For the warmongers, however, I can see this being a real pain.

Must love those who just want to nay say any idea. Players will still pay to expedite the upgrade even if they can use the Hero while upgrading. Maybe not as many but how greedy do they need to be?

The heroes stay for defense for war while upgrading, they should be available for attacks. I would be fine it was just for war. One reason the heroes' strength and abilities were adjusted recently is because they were so strong on defense vs offense. Speaking in terms of war only, an upgrading hero is useless on offense but since they stay on defense an attacker gets double the disadvantage.
