Too late for an alchemist/transmutation lab?

I had this idea a while ago and Im afraid its too late after the last update but instead of implementing elixir upgrades directly for walls they should have put in a new building called the alchemists lab that would allow the transmutation of elixir and DE into gold (and vice versa too)! This would still keep an emphasis on gold as the main resource for defenses and walls. Additionally the alchemist would have a penalty like at lvl 1 5 elixir becomes 1 gold and 1 DE can be 50 gold (would need balancing obviously but you get the general idea) Then as you lvl up the building these ratios become better and better to a 1:1 ratio for elixir:gold etc. Also as you level it up you could do larger and larger batches at a time.

Just a thought I figured Id share!

Oops just saw this has been ruled out. Not sure why, if they made the penalties for exchange enough people would still buy gems. I mean they did completely just add elixir for walls so that had to cut the number of people buying gems for gold for walls significantly… Oh well

This has been proposed many times and ruled out by Supercell at least for the time being because it would likely result in less people buying/using gems since they could convert one resource into another type that they need.

It does seem, however, that the cost that would be incurred to transform something and the time it would take to transform would provide a counterbalance that would make the lab of limited use, and wouldn't have much effect on gems sales (my level 1 version started at something like 250,000e + 50de + 1 day = 200,000 gold). I think this also would have been a better solution to the problem of walls costing too much at higher levels than making walls upgradable with e.
