Most people dislike stats they come to play, not to think hehe

-people who frequent the forum should be expose to attacking/strategy/raid guides, so I would say their offense ability is far higher than the average player.

-this top 10%.. i mean, whats the point lol.
say top10% of gold III league, boost their trophy a little bit more, and they are bottom 10% of the gold II league.
their position in their league is "nothing" since its based off trophies, and they simply gets bump up to another league when their trophy hits the bottom of the other league.

Its not like they are stuck to that league for 2 weeks, so nothing concrete can be form imo.

By top 10% I mean the 10% players who attack most, not the top 10 players with most trophies in the league. My guess is that players who have time to post on the forum also have time to attack a lot. Therefore they would be in this top 10%. And that's a way to tell them that they play much more than the average player, and therefore have very different concerns. For example, the recent reduction from 25% to 20% loot from storages, or the loot penalty based on TH difference, may be completely unknown to the average player.

The problem here is your sample size. I'm not versed enough in statistics to know, but I imagine that a single league out of thousands is not enough to make inferences on the behaviors of the general game population without significant amounts of error.

For what it's worth I have 73 wins currently. The highest in my league has 222 wins. I'm definitely in the top 10% though. Judging from your numbers, I'd say my league is a lot more active though.

Mmm, stats. I approve. But your statistics are likely distorted, so keep this in mind. Immediately following an update, there will be more people playing than prior to the announcement of an update. So please do not take your percentages as anything more than what they are: initial assumptions. What dahimi mentioned regarding small sample sizes also holds.

You'd be able to get a much more accurate picture by capturing the dynamics of player wins; for a given player, see how his or her attacks won number increases from day to day. Aggregate information from enough players and you'll even be able to see what times of day are the most active.

I think a sample size of 93 is way too small to make precise assumptions about the 8.6 million daily players, though you have probably shown the general pattern and distribution. Anyways, I am currently at 115 attacks won, second to 131 belonging to someone else in my league. I have not been playing as much as I usually do for the last few days actually so really says a lot about how addicted I am... >___>

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

1- I agree that it's a small sample size. I know it's not exactly reflecting what happens to the entire player population. And that's why I explained how others can send me their own league data =)

2- But this data is a good ballpark estimate. So far, the number of weekly attacks for forum users seems way above the number for the average user. So far, and with the data I have, of course.

3- I may keep track of my league data every week. That will allow me to track if players attack (and win) more or less after the update vs later on. Since leagues reset every other week, I won't be able to track changes for particular players. Just overall changes. And that's why I need more data! =)

End of the week stats! Feel free to send me your league data!!

In one Silver1 league, one hour ago: over the last 2 weeks:
    - the average player won 25 attacks,
    - the average player won 10 defenses,
    - the number of attacks and defenses won are correlated,

    (pearson's r=.37, spearman's r=.49, and p<.0001 for both, in case you're wondering about significance )

What may not apply to everyone is my 97 attacks won in one week! Which likely means between 120 and 140 attacks total (when I lose, it's 25-30 trophies, but when I win, it's (purposefully) rarely 3 star - I try to maintain around 1200 trophies). So that's 20 attacks per day on average.

    League data!

But enough about me. What about the other people in my (current Silver1) league? I took all their numbers and plotted them together. Here's the distribution.

This is a cumulative distribution graph. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumulat...ution_function) What's interesting about it?
    - The top 10% of attackers won more than 29 attacks in one week (this is the top horizontal blue line)
    - Half of the players won less than 11 attacks (and half won more than 11 attacks) (this is the middle horizontal blue line), which means less than 2 per day.
    - 13% of players won 0 attacks this week (this is the bottom-left corner). Does this mean 13% of players were not playing this week?
    - I won most attacks (97 attacks, this is the top-right corner). OH YEAH

Not on the graph, but interesting nonetheless:
    - The average player wins 14 attacks in one week. 2 per day.
    - Only 93 players in my league, why not 100? Keeping room for demoted/promoted players from the gold3 and silver2 leagues?
    - 2500 gold per attack won * 97 attacks won = 240k gold in one week. I hope Jorge managed to attack at least 2.4 times this week, otherwise he should drop down to Silver 1

    Want your league plotted?

I'd be happy to plot your league data, or add your league data to the current graph. If you want to give me data about your league:
    - Check that I'm not in your league (my in-game name is gentimouton), otherwise we would have redundant data, and that's bad. (I also know that two people could be in the same league and unknowingly submit the same data to me. Let's hope there are enough leagues and few forum users sending their data =) )
    - Write down the number of days and hours left until the end of the season. This is important because it makes sure we are not comparing data from Monday to data from Friday (which should be very different). If there are 6 days and 21 hours left, write down on the first line: 6,21
    - Number of attacks: let's say the first person in your league won 18 attacks, the second won 9, and so on. Then write down on the second line: 18,9,0,32,13,...
    - Send this list of numbers + days/hours to me by private forum message (cick on your profile at the top right corner of the page, then look for "Send Private Message", and enter my name as a recipient). Please send a private message so as to not flood this thread with numbers!

If you want the script I used: http://pastebin.com/pW3qiN5L
This is a script for R, a free stats software: http://www.r-project.org/

    Any thoughts about these numbers?
Thanks for taking the time to do this. My belief is that the league system definitely has encouraged people to want to win trophies now.
