From my point of view.
I play all my games starting on hard mode then adjust down if I become stuck to the point of frustration. That point is not reached for quite some time and after many many attempts. Also I expect whatever 'challenge' in the game to become more difficult the further I advance. Applying across the board changes making the game easier at every level takes away from the 'challenges' that make the game interesting. The time and effort I put into the game should be rewarded by putting me in a better position than others who do not put forth time and effort. This is why I argue against instituting easy mode, especially when that already exists in the form of leagues.
Why do we argue? This sport is one we engage with our minds and words rather than our bodies. A lot of this is similar to smack talk on the field.
tl;dr Competition and a sense of accomplishment would be lacking if loot was made to easy.
