I never thought I would join a CoC forum, but after weeks of holding my tongue, I can no longer in good conscience do so. It is time for me to speak up. More importantly, it is time for Supercell to listen.
The recent update was absolutely terrible, and loot has been scarce ever since. This obviously isn't breaking news, but I am one more voice that reaffirms this. There was a slight improvement in loot with the 1 gem boosts, but ever since then, it has been abysmal. Instead of finding bases with 100k, 200k, or 300k of each elixir and gold, I'm consistently finding bases with a combined total of 40-80k. This is a drastic change. Too often I've nexted away 100k+ of gold before finding a single base worth attacking. No abandoned bases, no exposed THs, nothing. Instead of being something fun to play, CoC has turned into something boring and irritating. Last night I did nothing but press the next button for 20 minutes straight before finally finding a decent base. 20 minutes for 1 button. This is no longer a game. This is insanity.
What's even more insane is that Supercell, for the most part, has completely ignored our complaints. Some might say they have no reason to respond to us or fix the problem. They're a multimillion dollar company, so why should they care about a few complainers? Let me tell you something, that is not how a good business operates. Every customer should matter. Every complaint should receive a response. Sadly, Supercell does not agree with this, and here's why.
Supercell cares only about one thing and that's money. They're trying to make as much money each day as possible. That's not a bad thing - that's what businesses are supposed to do. Supercell clearly made a calculated decision before rolling out the last update. They came up with the idea that if they eliminated enough elixir from the economy (i.e., updating walls with elixir), then people would buy more gems to make up for the lost elixir. Obviously, more gems equals more money. I'm sure they weighed the pros and cons of this move beforehand. They figured losing a few players who quit over the update would be more than well compensated by the additional gem sales. Is this plan working? I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing yes. Hence, the silence from Supercell. If they were losing money, they would have changed the update by now.
It appears Supercell's business plan is different than most companies. Last weekend I noticed several CoC commercials that were aired during football and baseball games. These were in prime spots, and I'm sure they were expensive to air. By airing these commercials, we know that Supercell is targeting people who have never played before. We also know that the last update has mostly hurt TH8s and above (TH9s and TH10s the most). These people, like myself, have been playing for a long time and have given a lot of money to Supercell. Here is Supercell's plan - make the game more expensive to play, convince many new people to play the game, and hope that your longtime, devoted customers are addicted enough to stick around through the changes. They believe that the money they will receive from the additional need for gems and new customers will outweigh the money they will lose when their longtime customers leave. This is a terrible way to run a business. Imagine for a second if a hotel operated this way. You show up for the first time, and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The first few nights are great - 24 hour room service, friendly and thorough maids who clean your room, chocolates on your pillow, and a great night sleep. However, after the 7th or 8th night, something happens. The staff refuses to answer your calls, the maid stops cleaning your room, and chocolates stop appearing on your pillow. You become ignored and unimportant. This is essentially what Supercell is doing. They are being incredibly friendly and welcoming to new customers, but are ignoring their current and longtime customers. This must stop, and here's my solution.
If a hotel did what I described above, the only way it would change is if the customers spoke up, gave bad reviews, and stopped giving that hotel their money. This is what we have to do to Supercell. People have been speaking up, but we must be louder and speak up in different locations. Complaining on this forum is great, but we need more. We need to write letters and emails to Supercell, post our complaints in global chat and other areas online, and tell our friends who are thinking of playing this game not to. Also, we need to send Supercell a message and start giving CoC bad reviews on the Apple and Android stores. I have already given them a 1 star review on Apple, and I encourage you all to do the same. Lastly, we need to hit them where it hurts the most - in their bank accounts. We HAVE to stop buying gems until they fix the lack of loot. We have to show Supercell that we matter. We have to show them we will not be ignored anymore. It's time to pepper them with bad reviews both online and in person. It's time to stop giving them money. It's time to stand together and start a revolution to end this madness. Tell everyone you know who plays this game to stop spending money and start giving bad reviews. We can get our fun game back. We can do this. We can make a difference.
Thank you all for your time.
