BUT...that ONE star can make all the difference between winning and losing.
It would be so unfair for the TH9 to receive less loot for more effort!
The goal is not to penalize those who get 1 star, it's to improve war loot across the board for everyone. So getting a 1 star would still give just as much loot as getting any number of stars gives you now. With a steeper loot penalty for attacking bases lower than one's own, it would make it so that the TH9 who gets a 1 star on a TH10 is justly compensated. Which brings up another thought... Maybe along with having the number of stars affect war loot, the town hall level of the person you're attacking could have an effect to? There's a loot penalty in farming for attacking lower town halls, so maybe there could be a slight bonus for getting that one star on a higher TH, just to help out those TH9s who get stuck taking on TH10s.

I could go for an additional war loot that is distributed evenly to every member based on the total number of stars the clan as a way to increase the overall loot of a war win, but war loot should not be based on stars or opponents relative strength at an individual level any more than it already is. I have often instructed people to attack down very low or up very high to get the stars we needed for that particular war strategy. There other than the existing loot rating for each base there should be no incentivizing clan members to attack up or down against the team strategy.

So I guess someone should finally say it, bumping your own thread is actually against the forum rules anywhere other than Clan Talk. Please stop, if the idea dies, it dies

I think it should be the way it is, maybe inflate loot a little bit then delegate loot based on stars. So you only get the full loot if you 3 star, 2/3 loot for a 2 star and so on. This should go for attacks that are trying for more stars as well as long as there isn't a 3 star already for that base. Then it would be too low of loot to attack a low player and too risky to attack high
