I don't like it much either. In our current war I probably trained about 10 dragons, 40 wizards, and 50 hogs (plus other jazz) both for myself and for donating. After training my two armies and the troops for donating I saw that I had spent close to half a mil E and about a thousand DE. This morning I wake up to what is pretty much a lost cause since we are down far too much to mount a comeback, however the board is full of clan mates asking for war donations. I felt guilty that I didn't want to que up a long list of high level troops again since I had already spent so much and we were likely to lose to a far superior clan.
So so more than a few of us have had this or similar problems. I have seen a few threads with titles referencing war not being worth it due to the cost. Since war seemingly exists in some alternate universe that doesn't effect one's trophies or shields, or actual village, maybe it shouldn't effect loot either. I think there should be a sort of clan war bank in which E and DE just come from the ether the same way the war loot bonus does and the clan leader could allocate those funds amongst the group. This number could fluctuate based on the clan's level and rate of success to be a sort of incentive to do well so everyone doesn't think they can just go into every war and train mass drags even when they always lose. In this case, winning clan gets a hefty loot bonus and the losing clan gets nothing. I'm sure there are some holes that can be poked in this (I don't much like the idea of the clan leader having total control of the funds so I might try to think of a better way to do that) because I haven't developed this into an iron-clad idea so I'm glad to hear your thoughts and suggestions. But remember, this would literally hurt no one, and make clans want to be involved with wars again so please don't make a bland response about how this would ruin the game with no solid reasoning.
