I'm just about finished townhall 9 and I'm wondering what the loot is like at townhall 10 because the only thing that's stoping me from upgrading is the threads on the forums about the loot at townhall 10. I also see a lot of townhall 9's complaining to but I'm perfectly fine. So I'm wondering is the loot bad at townhall 10 or is it similar to townhall 9?

Im th9, but we have a few th10's in our clan. From what theyve told me, the loot penalty is pretty bad. But it really depends on where you farm, if you go to Gold 2 and below youll find a lot of th7s and 8s, which at th10 wont give you much. Youll probably need to go to gold 1 and crystal, thats where most of the guys I know will farm. Although some have had success farming inactive bases at trophy level 1250. You will still find loot, it'll just be a bit harder. One of our th10s posted a he did earlier today 550k gold 770k elixir and 3k DE. Thats rare, but you can still find jackpots like those.
Also its not just the loot that changes but your opponents too, you'll get targeted by more th10s and 9s than before, the people who attack you will pack a punch. My personal opinion is wait until you're maxed, but Ive heard some say it doesn't really matter. If you're active and raid often I don't think the loot penalty will be too large of a hindrance for you.
I didn't find the loot as bad as some make it out to be. The days of raiding decent loot off of TH8s are all but over at 10, but if I had to pick a number from 1 to 10 on how much the loot dropped (1 being catastrophically bad to 10 being no change at all) I'd say it's about an 8.5.
If you're about maxed at TH9, including troops then you're good to go. As with any time you move up there will be so many new toys you will want to get that anything you didn't upgrade fully before the move will be neglected for a very long time.
Make sure your collectors are full before your TH finishes (14 days is plenty of time) and you'll be in a great spot.
Be aware that many of the upgrades are in excess of 6.5 million gold so your upgrades will slow down a bit, but with long upgrades times you'll have plenty of time to raid between upgrades.

The most effective farming strategy for town hall 10 is loonions in Master 3-1. You can farm just as much as any avid town hall 8 farmer in a day. Its a lot different and will take some getting used to, but once you master it you'll have full storage's in no time!! Even your DE will be flowing over.
If you've farmed level 10 walls then th10 should be a piece of cake for you

Good post, thank you. I have just pressed the button for TH 10 and, like the OP, I am a bit worried about the available loot. I've only got level 8 and 9 walls but everything else is maxed. Both Dark Barracks currently updating for Mutley the exploding flying dog.
I was going to hang around for more walls but meh, would rather raid for defenses than fill the wall sinkhole.

Compared to TH9
For Gold, if TH9 loot is 10 then TH10 is 7.5
For DE, if TH9 loot is 10 then TH10 is 12.5
