Let's do some math... Let's say you have a war with 50 members. Five level 6 wizards to each war castle is a million elixir.
That's before adding in the cost of your own armies, plus the troops that you donate for offense.
If you take out the top guy in an enemy clan, you are lucky to break even on your war castle donations. Even if you don't donate to each war castle, winning a war is a losing proposition.
I will continue to wage war, but I won't try to kid myself, or anyone else about it being profitable.

Yes but for most players, walls are a bottomless pit that you throw resources into. Very very very few people have maxed walls. Even with this change, very very very few will max them. For all intents and purposes, what this has done is allowed people to max their walls in a couple years instead of a few years. What this means realistically, is that people will continue to spend their gold as before, but now will also spend down their elixir as well. In your example this means they will spend 200k gold AND 200k elixir. Then once that level of walls are done, they will spend 500k gold AND 500k elixir. Once those are done they will spend 1m gold AND 1m elixir...etc...
There will not be extra gold lying around because these players are not likely to actually ever finish their walls (i.e. they are bottomless pits).
It also means that folks will target elixir specifically more frequently in raids as it now has value roughly equivalent to gold now.
1) Calm down people. Loot is always bad after an update because of the higher activity level of everyone wanting to check out the update.
2) To everyone whining about there being no loot, if you have your town hall inside your walls and less than $2M gold, you need to quit complaining because you are part of the "loot problem."
3) I have seen countless "bad loot" threads, and I am a nearly maxed TH10 that has never had any trouble finding loot. Perhaps some of you need to lower your standards. If you're trying to find a $300k of each base, then yes, you will next over 100 times from time to time. And before someone comes on and says, "that's just for you, others have bad loot," I have three villages, an almost maxed TH10, a newly upgraded TH10, and a mid TH8. I haven't had any loot problems at any point on any of them. Maybe ask yourself what you're doing wrong instead of blaming Supercell. You're probably also the ones who call your troops dumb every time you fail an attack...sure, troop AI can be sketchy once in a while, but seriously, 95% of the time, a failed attack is your fault, not troop AI.
4) It's ridiculous that people are saying that being able to use elixir on walls will kill the economy. Before, you had to use gold on walls and defenses and people sat around with completely full elixir storages because there was nothing to spend it on. Even with gold being used for all walls and upgrades, there was still plenty available. Now, with elixir, it gives upper TH8 and TH9 bases something to use their elixir on while they finish upgrading their defenses. When I was finishing defenses at TH8 & TH9, I had full elixir for months because there was nothing to use it on. Even at TH10, once all you have left is lab upgrades, you spend 3-6 days at a time with full elixir waiting on your lab. The update solves that problem.
5) Some people will pour elixir into walls when their lab upgrades are done at A TH level, but that's maybe 5% of players at that TH level. There will always be people saving elixir to do lab upgrades at similar TH levels. And TH10s will be using elixir on walls once their lab is done, but at that point, a lot of walls will take $3M+ to upgrade, meaning there will be plenty available as those bases save to get up to the $3M.
Great update Supercell. Everything in this update was to make the game more player friendly, and all you guys can do is complain. No complaints other than the trolls who always complain about everything coming out of the woodwork.
It's awesome! I have been using my heros in every attack and getting more loot as a result.
On the flip-side, I expect I'll lose more loot in raids because other players will be doing the same.
So overall, I win more, I lose more, and the game is more fun. Good change!![]()
Agreed, no loot to be found at the moment. The loot has been pretty bad off and on past few months. This is the time I put the game down because the fun is gone just treading water with gold and elixir. Was really hoping they were going to put something in the game to solve this problem, not make it worse by cutting the elixir down too.

Honestly WTH were you thinking when you allowed walls to be upgraded with Elixir? I just spent over 30 min and over 300,000 Gold looking for a target. Guys I cant even cover my cost with the targets out there! If your intent was to get players to spend real money(Gems) for Elixir just to play the game you have made a big mistake !! You have taken away the fun and made it monotonous !! Has COC turned into nothing but a Mine and Collector raiding game ?? All the Elixir is gone that we need that to build armies ! Targets that have 10k or 30k are worthless to me. Im a TH9 level 91 and you guys have made my game miserable !!
Note this COC if I cant find targets or cover my costs, I will not be spending any more REAL MONEY on a monotonous game !
