    We too are an established war clan but we barch quite often. It works like this. Everybody fights for maximum starts on their first attack. More often than not this is enough to win outright. As the war presses on sometimes the opposing clan gets close enough to be a threat. In that case most of us use our second attacks for more stars. Often in the last 1/2/4/8 hours or so we can declare the war over and everybody takes turns barching their best target. It can often max out our clan castle storage. Sometimes we fight down to the wire. It helps motivate people to go all in their first attack. I promise we will always TRY to farm our second attacks whenever possible.

When you loose you should not be rewarded so that it doesn't feel like you lost. It should hurt. It should make you want to try harder.
    Whaaa? attending a child's birthday party makes you a loser?

    No, being a parent that gives gifts to all of the kids who come to the party does. Why isn't cake, ice cream, maybe participating in the beat of a piņata and being happy for your friend's special day enough anymore? Now every kid at a birthday party has to get presents? Horrible message to send to our children.

    The war loot bonus almost never covers the cost for high level players and I'm talking about the win bonus! If we lose the war, it's a big loss in terms of the resources and very demotivating. A lot of clans have stopped wars because it's just not lucrative. I've changed clans at least 3 times because the leader decided to put an end to clan wars. A lot of clans are dropping out of clan wars for the same reason.

    Can you do something about it?
    You propose you should get back what you spend? Then people would just go crazy on the low level opponents. I think they could be a little more generous with the bonuses but beyond that, my clan wins because we are willing to spend what it takes not because we are willing to spend what we get. if you plan well on your first attacks and get far enough ahead you can ninja loot the top guys with second attacks.. if done right wars can be lucrative for most of the clan.

    Clan Wars are a complete waste of time from a resource perspective. Higher level people will absolutely spend more than they can win on troops and thats is they win. I would assume on average clans lose about half their wars (some better some worse) which means not only are you guaranteed to lose on a win - over time you lose a boat load more.

    Now add to that all the stress and conflict it creates in a clan and you suddenly have a part of the game that is designed for you to lose and feel bad. Sounds a heck of a lot like playing in Vegas would you say?

    I am not a fan of clan wars. Our clan is doing one tonight for "fun" but we do not plan to do them often at all - like once a month. See the thread in my footer where this came up before and I trashed the concept of wars then.

    I don't think the attack strategy matters as long as you win the battle...

    In my experience I break about even or lose a small amount of DE and elixir but the gold is nice, I also like having loot in my castle since it's basically an extra storage that attackers get less of. Clan wars don't have to be stressful, or a waste of time. Our clan do it for fun, but we're also very good in wars, our record is 31/5. I think clan wars are fun, I mostly farm so it gives me a chance to use some strong army comps. You're free to have your own opinion on clan wars I'm just saying your reasons for not liking it is more based on your reaction to it, not clan wars itself.

    Suggestion

    how about if SuperCell put three or more options how a player would like to get the bonuses.

    example :
    opt1 = 200k gold / 200k elix / 2k d.elix
    opt2 = 100k gold / 300k elix / 2k d.elix
    opt3 = 0 gold / 300k elix / 3k d/elix.
    so fort and so on.

    So a player could choose between the rewards and somehow cover the resources spent in the attack made by the players.

    CW adds some spice in the game.

    I use CW for testing out costlier and high powered strategies for fun. Without it i would have been barching everyday which gets good loot but no fun.

    CW is a group event that lets you involve more with your clan mates either if its planning an attack on someone or making a good defence.fun stuff.

    If you care more about loot rather than having fun then dont take part in clan wars. Barch all day, pile up the loot storage and think of where you would spend it.

    I kept track and on top of the GoWiWi I built for myself (3+3) at 3300 each time, the clan castle troops donated and the max witches and golems for other peoples strategies, I JUST spent less than 13,000 DE in our last war.

    We won, but 880,000 gold and 880,000 isn't such a big deal when you've dropped 8K Dark...

    Pretty sure in their releases pre-Clan Wars SuperCell claimed this was adding loot to the game.

    (It's lucky they are reasonable fun, or seriously, who would bother?)

    Why can't the storages in the bases we raid actually hold a little more loot? What would it hurt?
