To further this, the elixir count is going to be significantly reduced on pretty much every base. These two updates are probably the only downside in my opinion. I have recently been farming with giants at lower trophy ranges purely to save elixir to save for the level 7 troops and the dark barracks. To be honest with you, looning is my favourite farming strategy since it doesn't require you to go through strenuous sessions with barching and instead have time to do other things.

However, with the 1/2 price and 1/2 training time mini update on the wizards, I've tried farming with wizards. I've never really used them for this purpose due to the obvious factors of price and time. But I've been enjoying my farming immensely and profiting from it very well.

Overall, my first look on the update is a positive one. Looking forward to using the new troop which as a balloonion lover is brilliant!
Agreed with all you said. Not sure if the lava hound can be incorporated into a farming strategy (costs and training time), but they'll do great in cw. As for other attack strategies, I've been doing some barching in c1 but loot had been pretty bad. Gonna try to go up then down in cups. Thanks for the wizard tip, totally forgot about them! Not sure the lower price will last, however.

Yes I know their is no deadline, but it's apparently assumed by this forum community.

Everyone has a boss btw ...

In very loose terms we as a whole are their "boss" if we stop paying them for their "work" then they are out of a "job"

Kind of went off track, i only really meant that blaming others is no real excuse here or in real life.
But they aren't blaming others, they are providing a real REASON the update isn't out. I call that good customer service.

I am a maxed Def TH10 with 225 lavas and 25 zaps. My AQ is 30, and my BK is upgrading to 29 as I write this. From my POV, I can understand some of your concerns.

Regarding wall upgrading, yes it would have been nice to have been able to upgrade them with elixir, but even if SC takes some of the value of walls with this ( since more and more will have high level walls), they can never take away your GG. That will remain and show everyone just how dedicated of a player you are.

Looning will definetly be harder after the update, resource wise and offense wise. I have never farmed with loons much, since they take way to long to cook for me (yes even on boost ). I prefered Giant based armies, always have for some reason. That being said, I can relate to the elixir cost of farming armies, since with spells my army can take alot of elixir to make, which I rarely get back in one raid.

So, with this update I too will be forced to maybe approach things differently. But that is basically what made me stay in this game this long, with no intention of slowing down anytime soon. Everytime I got the feeling that I'm finally figuring this game out, SC dropped a new update and new things. Keep in mind I've been playing since Sept 2012, so I've seen them all. First few times I was overwhelmed, angry, like most of the forumers I'm seeing today. Now, my mentality has changed somewhat. I like that they change things, it opens up so many new possibilites.

All that being said, I'm loving this new update. It brings many features that I have wanted for a while, as for the rest of it, we'll have to wait and see I guess.

    Cheers, Rock.

Proudly maxed TH10 as of January 14th 2015

    1. New level 7 troops! Never have there been such high level troops and now farming which these powerful tier 1s is going to very fun indeed. I can't wait to upgrade these mine myself.
    2. New dark troop. Yeah sure, perhaps it isn't to everyone's liking. But I myself love it and will definitely enjoy using it for clan wars. I do agree that a farming troop would be very nice though.
    3. New level archer towers. Great for maxed townhalls who have nothing to do. Plus, they are great to attack against the new hounds so that the gameplay isn't too OP.

Need I go on? There are other great things like the valks time decrease and hero regeneration time decrease. SO much going on it's hard to remember all the sneak peaks.

Let's face it, if they released too much then it would be boring for us the consumer as it's more fun dished out over time.
Don't forget... something should be happening with the wizards... unless those videos and banners they released a couple weeks ago mean absolutely nothing.

Why is the forum assuming a deadline suddenly an excuse to make them 'late'?
We arent their boss because no matter how much individuals spend money on the game, we have no right to demand anything, we can critique the game and make suggestions, but surely if we were the 'boss' we would be the ones deciding what they do (i appreciate that there is a ideas and future requests area but at the end of the day the word 'requests' is significant there) and if we were the 'boss' we could for example fire Steve (sorry Steve) and hire a replacement. We are not true bosses and while i understand your point about if we stop paying then they are out of a 'job' but im sure that supercell and the employees are clever enough to focus on a different game/start on a new project when less money is made from coc

IMO the economy can't get any worse so let's see how the update copes with the massive amount of players, I do think that a loot system that worked over a year now can't be expected to work nowadays

And to further explain how a 1 gem boost was possible but not an update.... 1 gem boost is done on the server (which SC most likely owns) and update is at the mercy of Apple's approval. Be happy that we got all these awesome things in one week! Apple's new devices, 1 gem boost, and a Clash update! This is one awesome week to be a geek!
    Yes, definitely at their mercy.

Maintenances can do a few things - change values in the existing database fields mostly. costs, time, gems, attack values, text errors, etc can be done with a maintenance, after the maintenance you will see a "Downloading Files" message - where we push updated database value files to the device. The maintenance is needed to take down the servers to change the values there before we push the client files.

We used maintenance to introduce extra walls, extra amount of defenses for a specific TH in the past (just changing a database value)

A maintenance can't introduce new content, change AI's, change maps, add new database fields, etc. That requires a full app download.

We are their customers, not their boss. Pretty obvious difference. Supercell is a company, not a democracy. If you don't like the way they handle their business, then leave.
