Well I think this is a pretty well thought out update, elixer for walls wont hurt the economy in the long run. maybe, initially some higher lvl players will drop down to farm but I'm not to worried.
Lvl 7 barbs are archers should help solve some of the loot challenges th10s face, as th10s were really forced to use more expensive troops.

Im a Th and have had max elixer for months, most elixer I get just gets wasted. walls are 3 mill, I target 1 mill for raiding and war, so I think post update I will always have between 2.5 and 3 mill. When i go to th 10 im not going to put elixer into Walls for a very long time.

I think new barch will help th10s farm, and will help th9s max faster.
i supect all the th9s and 10s with crystal walls will stay crystal, changing how u pay does not change the fact that they were unwilling to grind out walls, the cost in effort has not changed.

You can max the walls though, and being able to use elixir means they will be maxed faster than normal. Once they are maxed (for whatever TH lvl) then loot will begin to pile up again.
People usually go to the next TH level once they've maxed all their walls.

People are soo worried about draining of elixir. It may temporarily be so as everyone have to test building walls with elix. However, nothing basically changes with that update. People dont start just making walls and walls and walls.... As previously they need to save for defense and troop upgrades and there will be elix available pretty much same amounts as earlier. Only a minor fraction of bases are in the situation that there is not much else left to do than walls. Yes, lvl7 barch means for th10s 16 million elix to save in addition to what they do now, not to talk about max spells, max pekka or many other things not so frequently seen around below the gemming top.

The thing is that people want this bad idea--elixir walls--and SC is more than happy to give it to them. It will cause elixir to be just as rare as gold or worse. I'm not trying to "troll" or even "complaining". I'm just looking at the situation, applying what I understand of economics and human behavior and making a fairly sound prediction from that.

Now, perhaps there will be some other outcome, but I think sensible people can see that if there is more to spend elixir on, people will spend it, and therefore it will be in someone's walls or Level 7 Barchers and not sitting there for sensible people to take.

So, if elixir is more rare and there are cool new must-have troops, what are the odds folks are going to gem? See, that's why SC loves the idea and are marching it out slowly and pseudo-secretly like they are doing us a big favor.

"Complainers" or "trollers" or "doomsday predictors" like me are only trying to point out the fairly common-sense possibility that elixir walls are not a good idea for the overall game economy. And while, you might think, "Ha! Now I"m gonna have all zaps and I'll be so boss!" The reality is that either elixir will be so rare you'll need gold still to get them, or it'll be so easy to farm them that everyone will have them anyway.

I just don't see why SC should so casually mess with something as vital to the game as it's economy. New Barchers, that's fine. It gives people some motivation to give up the good loot and go to TH 10. But messing with the economy puts the fun of the entire game at risk.

I'd personally rather just see a new clan promotion level. Something with more prestige than Elder and less power than Co. But that isn't going to get anybody gemming, and neither are the masses going to clamor for it.

Oh, well. Plenty of updates have come and gone and the game is still fun and will continue to be, until it's not.

Better upgrade those air defenses and build an anti hog base! Everyone is going to build up those type of armies now.

"Because elixir is way easier to get than gold". Really? Not anymore when the update comes out! I have to agree with the critics. This is not a great idea.

This kind of reminds me of the rising gas prices in the USA and then they develop ways to turn corn into gasoline. Yeah - good idea. Not. Turning our food into gasoline? What do you think that did to the food prices? Yep - way up! Corn is in everything! Corn is in 75% of our food - even ice-cream. Comedian Lewis black once said, "F#@$! green-beans have corn in it."

And elixir is our corn to 'grow' our troops, our troop upgrades (mostly), and our building upgrades. When you make it possible to dump the elixir resource into walls (where it can't come back out), you are making it even more rare and expensive.

Get your elixir now - stock up - because elixir raids are going to be coming up 'dry' soon.

Thumbs up Long live barch and bam

Has SC actually thought through the economics of using elixir for wall upgrades??? It means that most bases will never have more than significant elixir in the storages. Hence there will never be enough elixir obtained from raids to pay back attacks that are more expensive than barch or bam. Hence everyone will have to barch or bam unless they are a maxed out th10. With the addition of lvl 7 barbs and archers, this strategy is further reinforced. It will become the dominate attack strategy of 90% of players until SC rebalances costs or the economy.

Forget about any other attack strat, you simply can't afford to use them. Forget about using spells in attacks, you simply can't afford to use them. When you only get 50k elixir in a raid as a th8-10, you can't be wasting any of it. Almost all of that money will be used to train more barbs and archers. The little bit left over will be used for some wall, building, or lab upgrades. It will become even more precious than DE.

Long live barch and bam. Thank you SC for an update that severely reduces the enjoyability of the game.

GOOD NEWS: DE zappers will go extinct! yeah...

Who know if arch and barbs lvl 7 are going to be for TH10 only? I hope they don't kill us(TH9) again. They're literally killing us.
