The truth is Supercell doesn't actually know or control when the update will be released.
Having been an apple app developer at one point I can tell you first hand the app release process with apple involves the following steps: 1) submit app to apple for approval. 2) wait. there will be no communication from apple to the app developer until whatever ridiculous and completely inconsistent approval shenanigans apple subjects the app to have been completed. Apple is insanely stubborn about this. They won't budge even for a multi billion dollar company like supercell. Heaven forbid apple actually rejects the app. the approval process starts over. And due to terms of service with apple, supercell would be forbidden to actually communicate the reasons for rejection. they'd be forced to simply tell us "soon".
So how's that for honesty? It's really what's happening at the moment.
