I don't think the update will be the day before iOS8 is released though.

Agreed - also, like we can see in this picture the color saturation in chief pat's video appears to be too high and they'll look a bit more muted in game I think. At least on my monitor the colors in that video are far more intense than what my Ipad is showing me while playing.
Pay attention to the stuff circled in pink, clearly shows the color isn't the only difference.
"More red, less gold" might have been a good idea though.
