No, people will still do that, but the thing is... A lot of people (myself included) have finished all their lab upgrades and sit on max elix 24/7 with nothing to spend it on, and will either offer 350k elix or throw some storages outside and give it away... Thats how new town halls live... They raid those people that are one th down with fill elix and do their camps/lab/sf ect, and not that will all be spend on walls

those people saving up for archer upgrades won't be able to find much elix to save up since all the people with max storages are gone
and those people usually will get on for a few hours and try to get most of it if not all of it and then upgrade whatever it is, not raid 200k elix and get off so someone can smash them and take 350k back

Every last drop of elixir will goto walls after the base is already maxed out

A th8 going for lvl8 walls might take 2 month to upgrade pre-update. It is fait to say that post-update that will be cut in half. So, the village will start stockpiling elixir a month earlier. So to recap ...

Pre-update: 2 months with full storages
Post update: 1 month with empty storages before going back to full

I fail to see how that can have a huge impact on the available elixir.

+1, not everyone will be spending all their elixir on walls, wip3ed, and I know what you're thinking, when they run out of elixir upgrades, then they dump it in walls... but people will save elixir so they can raid. I think elixir may become a little harder to find. But not the "lootpocalypse" everyone predicts.

As long as clash of clans gets new players, this will never be an issue. It's like saying the elixir spells sometime back would cause no more elixir.

No, but take a look at all the bases you next. Most players dont follow the logic strategy in this game, they just play. You also need to start thinking of it as a whole economy to see the picture. Elixir can now be dropped without any building time straight into walls. Even a small decrease of total elixir will make it much harder to find. Farming elixir with a new TH9/specially TH10 was actually pretty hard, and I still have to be carefull about using formulas to save enough for research.

I think the new possibility upgrading walls with elixir is great, been waiting for it. i often have too much elixir.

I am still going to keep lots of it when the push to champs is coming up. and for donations and cw.

We still haven't seen the rest of the sneak peeks, there should be something in store for us regarding the loot?

People also seem to forget that many players will choose to save up for the elixir upgrades. So I don't think it will dry up?
