If there were no trappers in masters, every th 3 would flood champs and they would have to next next next like you do in crystal.

First, I lightning bolt their DE then I set off every single trap I can by placing one archer or barb from all angles all over the out side of the base and around the TH. Then I get as much loot as I can without giving them a shield while trying to get their xbows and inferno towers dry while doing the above. That way it cost them the maximum amount to recharge/reset everything, I get as much loot as I can and they still have no shield so the next person can do the same.

Trapping for the win.
I trap my TH to save my loot. Most attackers just want the TH for the trophies. I am happy to give it to them for a little work. When they need to put down 20-30 archers or barbs to get it, it makes them think twice about going in for storages. Those are the troops they save to take out my CC troops. I would say that maybe 1 out of 20 get mad enough to send in their whole army. Only once has someone been smart enough to start from the other end and completely destroy my base. I actually admired them. They probably would have taken my base out anyway. But unless it is gowipe or some strong air attack, they usually don't get more than 1 or 2 of my storages.
So you know it's me, I keep a couple of teslas, four spring traps near my teslas for the giants people put down, and now two fully upgraded skelie coffins.
I honestly think that everyone should trap THs. But then again, I don't think I have ever sniped. I don't see the point of it.
I agree. And it's not even that my loot is all that well protected - I have a LOT of stuff guarding the Town Hall.
While there may be players who, calm and considered, will stop hitting the Town Hall, then try and take as much loot as possible, set off as many traps as possible, and depart without giving a Shield, they are relatively few and far between.
My experience is that there are two main types of players who start attacking my Town Hall.
One is expecting an easy, fast win, and when they see defense, their expectations are so violently shattered that they just spazz out and dump their entire army into the kill zone. *Poof* no army. (Yeah, it really does work that way, if you have enough stuff killing the enemy troops.)
The second type pauses, presumably thinks, "oh-ho, well, I'll just show you...." and then proceeds in a more methodical manner, though it's still against the TH, not the rest of the base. This type can get the Town Hall, sometimes - having quite a few Giants seems to be a common thread there.
I made a new base last night, and once my prior shield had expired, I was hit 3 times in 20 minutes. Those are the 3 attacks in the picture (2 posts above). You can see the loot gained from the attacks increasing - my traps are getting used up. The 4th attack (5 minutes after the 3rd) succeeded in killing the Town Hall, using 9 Archers, 19 Barbarians, 16 Giants and the Archer Queen (she died, too). They got their 1-Star win, 1000 each of Gold and Elixir, and they gained 7 Trophies. This is after I gained 59 Trophies in the first 3 attacks.
I had a previous base design that didn't bring as much to bear for the defense of the Town Hall, and the new one is still as sneaky as I can make it. Guarding the TH are: 4 Teslas, 2 Inferno Towers, 1 X-Bow, 2 Mortars, 2 Cannons, 1 Archer Queen, 6 Bombs. For flying things: 2 Air Defenses and numerous Air Bombs and Seeking Air Mines. Everything is maximum level.
Now, you would think the set-up is pretty obvious, and/or that attackers would notice the rest of the base lacking those defenses, in large measure, but no.... They go for that Town Hall....
