Clan War Ranking System Likely Explanation!

Alright I tried searching this up and couldn't find anything on it, but I think I figured out how the ranking system inside the clan wars works.

In my clan, I am almost completely maxed out with my Town Hall 7 base. In our current war I am ranked #10, behind numerous members who are TH8 but with significantly weaker bases. My base is the top of all the other TH7's in my clan, but every TH8 is ranked higher than me. And then there is the one guy who rushed to TH9 and is ranked #1 for some unknown (till now) reason.

I did a little comparisons between all the bases in my clan, and I think I came to the conclusion on how the ranking system works: It's all about the walls!
Yes your walls, and here is how it works.
1) The more walls you have, the higher you are ranked - This is why all the TH8 people are ranked higher than me even with weaker bases and lvl 5 walls. This is the first criteria for your rank.
2) Second criteria is the level of your walls compared to the level of the walls of members who have the same amount of walls as you.

So let's say you have majority of lvl 8 walls and some lvl 7 walls on your TH8 base and the next member has majority of lvl 7 walls and a few lvl 8. Since your walls are the higher lvl, you will be ranked higher than the person with mostly lvl 7 walls no matter how much stronger their base is compared to yours.

Now let's say you have a TH8 base with ALL lvl 8 walls, and someone in your clan gemmed to TH 10 right at the start of the game and has ALL lvl 4 walls. Even though your base is stronger, with higher level walls, their base will be ranked higher than yours.

I am almost positive these two specifications, in this order, are what make up your ranking in wars. From what I have seen in other clans and my own, it makes sense.

Hate to break it to you, but this is completely wrong. You get no new walls from th 9-10, yet th 10s with level 7 walls are almost always ranked higher than th 9s with even level 9-10 walls.

It's not only walls. It considers the level of all defense. Higher TH will have more defense than the lower TH. If 2 bases have same level of defense, then the base with higher lvl walls will be ranked higher.

Yea that would make sense, I heard the more gold you spent on your base plays a part so must include more than just walls.

You actually agreed with my original statement with this post. Also, I never said you get more walls from lvl 9-10.

pretty sure its done on 'defence score'. Where every piece of defence has some sort of score. So TH8s will be ahead of TH7s becuase they have extra defences (1 extra AD etc), therefore giving them a higher score than the TH7s

Yea that would be reasonable. I'll try and find some more information on the subject.

I think i good way to compare villages would be to calculate gold invested in the village.
the formula used by coc is unknown, but should be pretty close to total gold spent on your village.
Defense vs other building have surely more impact.
If it is the case, wall would have a good impact in your rank

Yes I heard this a few times now and it is probably the most accurate. Gold=defense so most likely the people with the better defenses are ranked higher.

Here's the quote from Marika in the sticky at the top of the Clan Wars forum section.

"How is strength calculated in clan wars?
Strength is based on each member’s attacking power (troops, army camp capacity, spells and heroes) and defensive strength (defense buildings, walls, traps and heroes). Different layouts and base designs do not affect strength. The only way a member’s strength can be changed is if they upgrade their troops, defenses, spells, etc."

You can have a equal base to someone else, but if their troops, army camp capacity, spells and heroes are higher then they will rank above you.
