I think spying says a lot about the character of a person or group of people. Obviously it is a part of the game as certain people have mentioned.

I find it to be dishonest, unclassy, and just an annoyance. We got bit a couple times early on and since then we closed invite during war prep, so no incidents since then.

But this doesn't change the fact that CoC would be better off if there were some sort of way to not allow spying to occur, such as any clan members not participating in the war cannot see war bases whatsoever.

Sure I can see how some people will do this for the fun of it, and some people just naturally find enjoyment in stirring sh!t with others. I am not one of those people, my clanmates are not any of those people, and we find war spies to be immature and classless. To call them ch34ters is a grey area, I just leave that one alone.

I don't care if my opponent really bother to create an account, spy us and in each of their war because that only means they have no confidence and lack of skills.

But this "guide of spy" only teach ppl how to lie... if liar = spy, i think eveyone is a good spy because lying is the basic instinct of human being, the question is do we want to be a liar or not. Besides, this guide lying skills is very poor, amateur.

    Pretty much entirely agree here.

But one thing in my 30 or so years of gaming has told me, most people will do anything they can to secure the win/competitive edge...no matter how cheap, classless, or down right dirty it is.

I strongly disagree with the concept of spying, but if people want to do it so be it as the game allows it.

Not like it matters to me anyway as I just close the clan for war in most cases or put in an absurdly high trophy req.... and GL taking on max TH10's and 9's anyway even if you did know the layout and somehow managed to get in to spy.

Modding, on the otherhand..... is way beyond spying and utterly disgusts me. Talk about cheap and pathetic. It's really sad how commonplace it is and especially up top in the top ranked clans. Totally kills the fun out of war when you have people practicing your base 30 times before they get it right, with no real penalty besides time investment.

30 years of gaming and you haven't played a multiplayer war game???

Spying is so common and normal in WAR games that some even invent troops called spies, to well spy on the enemy. Going back to my roots in travian and tribal wars, where we'd have spies everywhere sometimes in multiple clans. Having 3+ different groups for clan mates trusted clan mates and leaders deliberately giving out false information to who we thought were spies.

It isnt cheap, it is infact a very classy move to be able to pull it off, but it is dirty. War game people, i know you wouldnt have thought that before clan wars were introduced but thats what this game is.

This could be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ technique, or it can be "electrifying" if you do it right

Tell me how it is NOT dishonest??? You are posing as someone you are actually NOT. This is the definition of dishonest, buddy.

Like I already said, I've accepted it as a part of this game and have taken the necessary actions to not have our clan be affected by it.

No where in my post did I say it was not an effective way to help your clan's chances in getting the win. Any extra info would help of course, but that's not at all what I'm debating, so your constant "this is WAR" reasoning in this thread is a moot point. I know some people do whatever it takes to win a war, IRL and in this game.

My point is, it's dishonest and classless, fitting for the individual(s) who condone it. But you have fun winning wars this way, so good on you. Just how illegal drug dealers enjoy their dirty money.

If you're going to spy at least make an account called 007 Imo this is not unfair... unless something is stopping you from gaining the same advantage.

I don't spy because well I'm to lazy to bother but if some1 was to spy and offer me the info I'd take it without hesitation.. cause frankly winning is fun. I sopose I'm even worse than some1 that spys.. I'm lazy and will use dishonest methods if offered

I'm impartial to the whole debate here. Though it sounds effective, I think it is way too much work and not worth the reward. Sure, you can spy go on bases all you want, know where their traps are and etc., but still end up only two starring or worse because you just flat out botched your attack. Plus you would have to have a lot of time on your hands in that 24 hour period to go to the other clan, photograph all of their bases, upload the photos, talk with the members, post everything you remember they said to you, and leave. Sounds like a lot of work to me. Besides, if your base was in the war wouldn't the other clan notice the name of the base is the same name as yours?

I'm neither for or against it, but I think it sounds to me more like a kid's game of players trying to be a "good soldier" and look good in front of their clan mates for all of the information they've gathered for them on the other clan. Whatever happened to the good ole fashioned college try? I'd rather impress my clan mates by pulling off an awesome three star gowiwi first try, straight out of the gate, and without any prior knowledge of what's going on in my opponent's base beforehand. Just a well planned out attack after scouting their war base for good entry points. That's rewarding.
