I highly doubt this was prompted by a significant group wanting levels removed, but rather Supercell showcasing and emphasizing the leagues.

For all the months of many people saying "trophys dont matter", etc, etc, I can understand why and where these leagues are taking us. And the subtle push into thinking of leagues. To bridge to the large community who may or will continue to largely ignore trophies, I think having both levels and trophy leagues make a lot of sense (if the tiny screen, with smaller font now, can handle it, without exploding)

I'm still tinkering around with the golems, balloon splash damage, trophy leagues and other such stuff, before I write my typical long essay, but for now, I'm raising my trophies a little.

I believe supercell removed them for the same reason that they were removed from battlelog.
Too many noobs complaining about getting beat up by someone 30-50 levels above theirs but have the same trophy count.

They could keep the league shields and display your level number on top of the shield instead of the division within the league.

I guess I am assuming that no one is overly concerned about displaying their division.

That sounds right. Another possibility is that they want to remove the status associated with levels while creating more status for trophies via leagues. If people want bragging rights, they need to earn them exclusively by having high trophies - if this is the case, I doubt if we will see the change reversed.

You know, as a follow-on, the lack of levels is particularly annoying when people apply, and I have to click on their base now to confirm their level. We get so many wackos applying, and it's easier to just reject when I see them as below lvl 75...

This just happened, and I even clicked on this wacko's level. Probably should have just rejected without even bothering...

I agree we need our lvl with our names it was easy before you just look at the guys lvl and then you can see if he is good or not but now you have too visit him PLS PUT OUR LEVELS NEXT TO OUR NAMES
